My power steering pump was chattering, leaking, and just loud. I replaced all hoses and gaskets to no avail and decided to just buy a new one. I’ve bought other A-premium products for my 03 forester with no issues so far. I’m unsure of longevity seeing some other reviews, but this thing was less than $100 so I find it hard to complain.

We needed an immediate replacement for our OEM (2003 Subaru Forester XS) pump that we had just rebuilt. Apparently the OEM pump was a lost cause...We filed down the mounting bracket (main bolt location) when we reinstalled the rebuilt pump so we could get it back into the bracket; so, we we very happy that this new pump slid right into the mounting bracket - no fuss. Same for putting the belt on the pulley - went right on. Does that mean the pump is slightly smaller..? 🤔 Could be, but functions as it should.We are in the process of removing the excess air:1) While the front end is on jack stands, run the engine 5-10 minutes whole monitoring the reservoir level and any noises, shut off (let it rest to elease air bubbles to the reservoir); wait 1-3 hrs2) Run the engine 5-10 minutes, turning the steering wheel slowly left | right (not lock to lock), monitor the reservoir fluid level and any noises, then shut off; wait 1-3 hrsNote: turning the steering lock-to-lock in older vehicles can activate the pressure release valve system (pinion gear box). This can cause your power steering to release the vacuum pressure and leak out the fluid through the release ports on the inner tie rods (see the holes on your new inner tie rods..?) We learned this the hard way, and was further confirmed through various websites.

I bought this thinking it would be a quick, and easy swap.It wasn'tThankfully, I'm a mechanic with access to a variety of tools to shave the 1/4 INCH of extra material.If you don't have a grinder, and don't want to pay someone to make it work (it's like 5 minutes of machining) don't buy this, go to Subaru.

Had to power sand the OEm bracket and the steering pump housing to make it fit flush.

I got the pump and installed, turned on my car and it was squealing, smoking, and pouring oil out of the bottom. Ended up going to a pick and pull to get one that works.

Fit good seems to be working good so far. Chinese made replacement part like most. Will update later.
