System was installed by a licensed plumber. Identified a broken fitting on the tank. Waiting to hear from Aquasana before i finalize my review.Aquasana replaced the entire unit with the damaged fitting. System is working perfectly. Water smells better and no longer tastes like chemicals. Excellent product. Low profile install so it is not in the way even in my pantry.

This was easy to install. I followed the instructions and purged both assemblies. Installation went quickly. I did have some of the leaking issues that others described. Fixed them using a different sealing method. Pipe threads should never need more than two wraps of teflon tape to seal threads. I plan on updating the review at a later date.

So.... I live in South Florida and the water here is horrible. I used to have an RO and Membranes were getting costly and I also didn't want the large tank with water in the yard. I purchased and installed this filter system. Absolute garbage. Main Problems: Water pressure dropped significantly and had to raise the pump pressure and pressure tank pressure and still, if I'm showering and the wifey turns on the kitchen sink, the shower pressure drops significantly. If the dishwasher is running, I need to turn it off before showering. The water is horrible. All my toilets are yellow. There is a residue on the dishes every time after we run the dishwasher. And finally, clothes come out of the dryer hard and colorless of sorts. Please find another system to install in your home. I am still paying for this unit and its like I am just pulling water directly from the well and pumping it into my home. This can only be installed one way so its not an issue with anything other than this unit is garbage. Sorry Aquasana but, it is what it is.

I wanted to wait awhile before writing this because I wanted to see how the system performed. I did have a my well company install it. It took him much of the day. I know, it seems pretty straight forward but after watching him, I'm glad I had them do it. I will say that this system is designed to be installed indoors hence the system being designed for Plex piping. You can not use this outside because it deteriorates in the sun. I didnt have a place inside for it. so he converted it over to regular PVC which was easy.Buying this system I fully understood what it was for and what it did and what it did not do. I understood this is a water conditioning filter not a water softener (like the traditional salt based water softener). As an earlier reviewer noted, it does bring the hardness of the water down a little bit. You can tell its softer but not a lot and it certainly doesn't have the slimy feel of the traditional water softener. Our well is in mud hole basically. The water is full of orange iron laced sediment. This system handles it beautifully. While the desolved solids are not removed, the water is restructured in such a way that the build up of lime on the fauchets, toilets and toilet bowl have been slowed down and some cases removed. The water tastes good and the carbon filter of the system polishes the water. It is super clear and delicious. I read one one review that showed dark water in the toilet, The only thing I can think of is when it was installed the carbon filter was not flushed long enough before plumbing it to the house. It did take quite a long time for it to run clear during installation. Longer than the 15 minutes the instructions said. The flow is really good, much better then I expected. Even with the amount of sediment coming out of the well, the prefilter lasted a good couple months before the element needed changed. I did not have to change the post filter at that time.Even though we are on a well, I did not get or want the UV element that is an option. The reason is because I do not feel it is effective for very long. I was a marine aquarist for many years and tried using UV to clean up some tank problems. It worked for about a week until the UV Tube lost its UV output. The tube can appear perfectly fine. It can show that it's lit, etc but it not killing anything. Thats just my experience. But for someone that needs water treatment and does not want the salt, sliminess and hassle of a traditional water softener, this system is perfect.

This product is disgraceful! I had a water test done before I had this product installed and a test done after it was installed and the water came back virtually the same, but the water was actually slightly harder. So much for a salt free water softener and whole house filtration system. What a joke....

Many reviews talk about the installation and how the user feels the unit performs but do not provide actual testing data to show the difference/verify it actually works.Since the mfg doesn't provide test results either(that I could find), I was concerned/sceptical regarding the softening and smell reducing ability when buying this product as I have very hard and alkiline well water with a strong Hydrogen sulfide smell. To get some form of data I purchased First Alert home one water test and conducted the test several months prior to installation and again a few days after. The results show a significant change from hard to softer water along with a noticible decrease and near elimination of the hydrogen sulfide smell.Although the performance is great, I don't recommend installing this if you don't have basic plumbing and carpentry skills. If you do have these skills, it isnt terribly difficult to install but you will spend several hours to complete. It would have also been helpful having written instructions(aside from flushing) along with shims to line up the pre and post filter with the main filters.Lastly, the pro kit will only work with PEX and would have been much easier to use if they provided the slip on shark bites vs the crimp. This would save the installer money on the tools and additional parts needed for crimp fittings.Overall I am very pleased but probably would have purchased much sooner if they had more data on performance and details on installation.Note: other constituents tested with the first alert kits were already at low/acceptable levels and showed no change.
