The lid fit perfectly and works great. The lights worked really well at first but after about a year they stopped working entirely. It's really easy to remove the cheap lights that come with it and replace it with a better light with more color spectrum so overall this replacement lid did its job and extended the life of my tank before I'll eventually have to get a whole new setup.

This is sort of a "no option" option.......it's the only cover that I've found that fits the 15 gallon column aquarium. This one replaces the exact same top that came with the aquarium. The old one started to lose it's LEDs with only about half of them still lighting. It was about 6 years old when they started to go out. It does a nice job of lighting the aquarium when all the LEDs are lit........not so much with only half. It's hard to establish "value" when it's the only product available, but I thought the cost was reasonable.

Amazon nicely replaced this. The 2nd Replacement did the sane as the others. The LIGHTS GO SO DIM It qualifies to BE A PIECE OF JUNK. DONT BUY THIS ITEM. I thought I was saving money by purchasing this instead of buying a new fluorescent tube light to fit the one I had. I didn't use the 2 from AMAZONSTWO I GOT I WASTED SO MUCH TIME & Money. DONT BUY THIS DEFECTIVE ITEM!

It's brighter the fish are more attracted; they seem to response more in moving around. Compared to the old lighting the original hood had the old fluorescent lights. I just can't get over how much brighter and cleaner the aquarium appears. The new hood fit like snug without any gaps, and it's doesn't move around when you open the door to fish the fish. I will most defiantly recommend this product to anyone who wants to improve the appearance of the aquarium.

The lights on my original hood died after nearly a year. I was surprised since LEDs don't normally have a light life of only a year, let alone 15 of them at the same time. So I checked their connections and they were solid and then I separated the connection between the lights and the plug I found the connector had a serious level of corrosion (as shown in the first two images) because it is not properly protected against moisture. With my new hood I heat shrink the connector with water resistant tubing (3rd image) to prevent any moisture from penetrating the connector. Just to be sure that the previous lights weren't affected by the water, I removed the power supply connector and powered the lights directly and the light did indeed light up. The power supply connection to the LEDs corrosion was the culprit not the LEDs themselves. So if you can seal the connection tightly with either aquarium safe silicon or heat shrink waterproof tubing, your lights should remain viable for years to come. Otherwise, while a wee bit pricey, it is a fine product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a replacement hood for their Aqueon 15 column aquarium.

My aquarium is over 6 years old and the original hood finally gave out. I was a bit skeptical to purchase this newer version hood, based on the mixed reviews. But let me tell you, it’s perfect! It fits perfectly, and its super bright. It is a little thinner material than the original hood, but I think that’s due to the fact that it doesn’t need to support a heavy fluorescent light assembly underneath it. Overall, great replacement and a good buy. I’ve attached photos of the fit, along with photos of the aquarium with it both on and off in a well lite room so that you can see the difference.

I have had my 15 gallon column aquarium since December. By this June not even a whole 6 months of having the aquarium I started to have issues with the light/ hood, where the light wouldn’t turn on right away or it wouldn’t turn on at all. I replaced the bulb and still did the same thing. So I decided to purchase this LED hood. I honestly can’t believe how much brighter this hood made my aquarium! I am so pleased with how great it looks and works! I wish this was the hood that came with the aquarium because it has made my aquarium look even more better than what it was! Well worth the money!
