The console looks cheesy in the ad but its really high quality. I have a 2007 FJ and I wired it differently. Instead of a radio, I mounted switch banks in the console and it looks great. I'd recommend to any FJ owner wanting a roof console.

There were several installation issues as other reviewers mentioned and the bracket that replaces your current dome light is a bit rough looking. I had these issues with the instructions that you may want to know ahead of time:1) Although the instructions seem to make a point to always put an asterisk before the word "front" or "rear" when referring to the light, they forgot to say which light they meant in several places so you have to figure it out.2) It was very clear that the dome light you push up into the head liner should be left in the off position. This is WRONG for my 2012 FJ. I had to take the system back apart and put the dome light to DOOR in order for the console to respond to the doors. Test this BEFORE you tape up the light and push it into the headliner.3) One of the wiring references is wrong and/or the wire adapter has the wrong ends on the wrong colors. The instructions were clear that Yellow went to Black/White and White went to Green; however, the connector on the Yellow was spade which matched the Green and the White was a pin which matched the Black/White (picture). To avoid having to change the connectors, you can swap the other ends of the harness as those are all spade connectors.4) The green wire that spans between the two light holes in the headliner is ~barely~ long enough and very tough to fish through. In my picture, the protruding spade connector's wire is taut.5) The instructions imply there are four holes to screw the rear bracket into. You'll be drilling those (at least in a 2012). Be careful to use a short drill bit, a good self drilling screw, or very little upward force to not puncture the roof.I THOUGHT not enough snap caps were supplied but it turned out some of them were inside their corresponding snap washers. The final product is nice. It ~slightly~ obscures my rear view mirror. The lights are LED and very bright.

The console fits in my FJ Cruiser 2008 after a lot of modifications to hide the rear base and to maintain the center light of the car. The installation manual is useless, the console is very good quality and the led lights are great. Is not easy to find the Radio adapter if you are planing to install an Icom radio in to the console.

Looks nice, appears to be fairly high quality materials. Shipping was prompt and communication good. There's only 1 problem.... My new Uniden 980SSB WILL NOT FIT IN MOUNTING HOLE PROVIDED. The radio is bigger than the opening, even with the rubber mounting ring removed. I am having to mount it underneath that same area by drilling into the bottom and bolting it down. Looks OK, but not great. Decided to mount the external speaker in the radio hole. MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE THE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS OF YOUR RADIO BEFORE PURCHASE. Otherwise this would have been a very professional looking installation. Four stars for "close, but no cigar".

The console has good quality finish and great LED lighting. The reason why I gave it only two stars is because the radio slot is not a standard DIN radio size and the since the company that makes it "Outback" is from New Zealand or Australia, the wiring and assembly instructions are not very clear. The wiring instructions were reverse for my FJ Cruiser in order to make it working properly. Also, in the Amazon picture it doesn't show the rear mounting bracket, the installation requires you to eliminate the factory center dome light to fit the rear mounting support bracket. I was not very happy about that. With a lot of personal modifications and rework I was able to hide the rear mounting bracket and still have the center dome light work. I recommend that whoever purchases this kit to have good skill at installations of electrical devices and handy with tools, or have a professional do the install because it was not an easy.

I love it, it does not look out of place with the original interior. The lights make a huge difference on the inside. Not as easy as i thought it was to install, but i managed. It is worth the money.

I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser and because this was not supposed to work with my vehicle year I was hesitant. If you know how to work a voltmeter then do not hesitate if you want some overhead storage. This fits great! The instructions seem to be a poor translation but there are pictures which make it easier to understand. The LED lighting is perfect and I will be installing a CB soon which was my primary motivator to purchase. If there is one thing the FJC lacks on it is front end storage, well this makes a great improvement there. You will not be disappointed.
