I ordered this sustain pedal to replace another pedal that has done nothing but give me trouble. I have usually used the traditional form of sustain pedal but after using three consecutive pedals that turned out to be nothing but complete garbage I figured trying one of the flat square ones couldn't be any worse. I'm glad I did. I've been using this for quite a while now and it has performed up to standard. The construction of the pedal isn't flimsy or cheap. Comparatively it has some real weight to it which is a plus for keeping it in one place while performing. Some of the other pedals that I've used are so light that they move every time you use them so the extra weight prevents that. Another plus that holds it in place is that instead of the usual four corner pads the entire bottom of this pedal is covered in rubber which its superior for holding its place not to mention it's shielding properties which can be important on some stages for keeping your sound clean and hum free. The 6' cable is of adequate length. There is a polarity switch for greater versatility and can be used in conjunction with different keyboards. I tried to use it with my drum machine but it was not compatible with the module.I was satisfied with my order. This pedal is well made, sits still, and performs as I need it to. There were no standard compatibility issues nor was there any hum or signal interference. The polarity switch adds to the unit's versatility while the asking price is what I consider more than fair for the quality you receive. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a sustain pedal and for those of you who are used to the traditional pedal shape I have found this design to be superior in both form and function. I should have ordered this type years ago and that's the best review I can give any product.

I've been using this as a momentary switch for an old 90s rackmount effects processor, and it does a good job of switching the effect on only when I have the footswitch engaged. It also works for advancing the preset forward, which is quite handy as well. The compatibility is flawless, and the polarity switch lets me decide between using it as a momentary on or a momentary off. The form factor is conveniently small, yet I've never had trouble hitting it when I want to. The springiness feels good, and it feels sturdy. Haven't slipped on it or anything. All of this is a clear advantage to traditional piano-style sustain switches, which are much thinner and smoother, so I vastly prefer this style. It can even work if it gets turned upside down, there's almost no downside to it.

As a musician who utilizes both electronic keyboards and an electronic drum kit, having a dependable sustain pedal is essential for expressive performance. Having previously used the Yamaha FC5 sustain pedal, I was interested to see how the Artesia ASP-1 Universal Sustain Pedal compared. After testing it with both my keyboard and drum kit, I can confidently say that the Artesia ASP-1 offers a virtually identical experience to the Yamaha FC5.Functionally, the Artesia ASP-1 performs flawlessly. It provides the same smooth and responsive sustain control for my keyboard, allowing for sustained notes and chords as needed. Similarly, when used with my electronic drum kit, it accurately triggers the sustain function for cymbals, creating the desired resonance. I honestly could not discern any difference in performance or responsiveness between the Artesia ASP-1 and the Yamaha FC5 across both types of instruments. In terms of build quality, the Artesia ASP-1 also feels comparable to its Yamaha counterpart. The pedal has a similar robust construction, with a solid weight that prevents it from sliding around during use. The feel underfoot is also virtually indistinguishable, providing the same level of tactile feedback. For musicians seeking a reliable and universal sustain pedal that performs equally well with keyboards and electronic drums, the Artesia ASP-1 presents an excellent option that mirrors the functionality and quality of established pedals like the Yamaha FC5, potentially at a more competitive price point.

As a pro Keyboard player, I've been using Yamaha FC5 pedals for years. The Artesia feels very much inspired by the Yamahas with the same heft and feel. What makes the Artesia a better choice is the polarity switch. Many modern keyboards and consumer digital pianos have auto-sensing; in that they will automatically adjust sustain polarity upon turning on... or offer it as a menu option. But some keyboards don't.Also, if you're using the pedal for other duties (amp switching, leslie control etc.), it's important to have a pedal that can be set as needed for its desired neutral state before switching. The pedal feels confident and robust underfoot, and so far has provided reliable switching. No squeaks or other mechanical noises with smooth up and down motion. It has solid metal housing, and the molded cable connections look firm and fit. Came nicely packed.I like to keep a spare pedal in my gig box for emergencies on local gigs. On travel gigs, I also pack one even when backline is provided. Pedals are often the first thing rental companies forget. It's also easier to pop this on if they've brought the wrong pedal and don't have time for menu diving. In my live setup, I use a normal type sustain pedal for piano duties but utilize several momentary style foot switches with my other keyboards to control organ Leslie speed, program changes, effect enabling and other functions. I'm happy to add the Artesia to my rig. Unlike similar plastic units, this feels like it will hold up under professional use.As to value for the money, almost the same price as the Yamaha. But as mentioned, the polarity switch makes it all the more a better choice. Well done.
