High yield dual riffle gold pans from ASR Outdoor feature three gold capture zones: shallow or fine riffles, deep or coarse riffles and a 1/8 inch optimized base. With both fine and coarse riffles built into the gold pans side walls, you can effectively work through a lot of material using just one pan; and importantly, this two stage design helps to hold onto more gold throughout the panning process.

Nevertheless, before we get to the functionality of these three zones, let’s quickly talk about the material construction of the gold pans: Highly durable dual riffle gold pans are lightweight and molded from one piece of high impact ABS plastic that is notably UV resistant, rust resistant, waterproof, buoyant in water, and available in four different diameters: 8 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch and 14 inch. The dual riffle gold pans are available in three high contrast colorways, making it easy to spot panned gold or other precious metals: choose from dark green, black or bright blue. Okay, back to the three gold panning zones:

Coarse Riffles: Start here to trap larger flakes and nuggets during the early stage of panning

Fine Riffles: Next, catch smaller fine gold flakes or flour as you wash away more material

Wide Pan Belly Bottom: Collects gold in the 1/8 inch deep base as it becomes separated from other materials

Overall, dual riffle pans make panning quicker because coarse riffles let you move through bigger material fast without losing gold, then, when you slow down to clean out the fine material, the small riffles pick up the rest, streamlining the process, instead of making you switch pans or redo your work. We recommend these dual riffle pans for all levels of gold prospectors, and especially beginners, because they offer a bit of a safety net. Gold has more chances to get trapped before it washes out of the pan, even if your swirling motion is a bit rough or uneven, or you’re just learning the technique. Good luck!
