Comfortable enough to wear for hours and as a poor swimmer this has made my time on the water so much more relaxing!

I haven't actually worn this out kayaking yet, but I sat in my boat while wearing it. It fits very well for my 5'11" 210 frame. Very lightweight. The inside of the vest is honestly what impresses me the most. The design of the foam is made to let water drain quickly and has plenty of vents and mesh to accelerate drying. I wish both pockets had zippers, but really it doesn't need it anyway. The price is about triple what I wanted to pay for a life jacket that I won't use often, but you actually get a well engineered pfd for the money. Is it a lot? Yeah, but it makes up for the cost in features and design. Gonna order another for my other boat.

This is my 4th PFD in the search for one that won't ride up too far. I love it. I wish the pockets were bigger but it is really comfortable to wear even when paddling. Nice not to have a PFD rubbing my chin! I have not needed the floating aspect so hopefully that will be good too.

The back of my kayak seat is pretty tall, so my old vest was always riding up my neck. This one fits perfectly right above the seat and in general is VERY comfortable! I don’t fish, but I do like all those pockets. It also has a clasp at the waist for extra security, and reflective stripes all throughout. It is vented and padded generously. My husband found it very comfy too, so he might be getting a bigger version of mine soon. I have to say though - it is pricey, but my life is worth it.

As the temps on my lake started to drop I decided it was time to start wearing my vest. My old vest was very bulky, and the back hit the seat of my Perception Pilot in a terribly annoying way. I needed something that would be out of my way. I didn't want to feel like the Michelin Man while casting. I took a shot on this Astral v-Eight Fisher and could not be more pleased. It excels in all areas that standard life vests let down the kayak fisherman. I actually forgot I had it on during my first test trip with it. The back is nowhere near low enough for it to interfere with my kayak seat, which is rather tall as they go. It is super light, and affords great range of motion in the arms. Again- I forgot I had it on, while testing it. If you're on your boat a lot and like to fish this vest is a solid choice. I cannot speak to it's breathability as I got it in the fall season; but if it's anything close to as well designed and innovative the rest of the jacket is I'm sure it will be impressive.

Great for Kayaking. I bought another company's vest first. This one is so much better. The back panel is great because the flotation pad in the back goes above the kayak back. Other models will push you forward or the padding sits right at where the kayak back ends. This causes the vest to be pushed up to your chin or there is a big chunk of foam behind your back. It also has good ventilation. The size was a bit bigger than other companies large as well. This is great because it's easy just to tighten the straps. Better to have room if you need it than be squeezed in. I'm 5'7" and 220 lbs and the L/XL is perfect with some room to spare but can be tightened correctly as well. I was also worried about the zipper close but it's very easy to use even if you have a bit of a belly like me.. There are a few pockets. Not super big but will fit a smart phone. Enjoy the Lake !!
