This unit is constructed with a tool-less Quick-Change Head design, which allows for easy changing of mandrels and nose pieces by hand. Disassembly of the tool is never required, and the unique spring loaded inner hex sleeve automatically locks the rotation of hand installed mandrels. The XL handles and hinge system multiply input force. I tried another brand first and I was shipped a broken return item. This tool seems much sturdier, has less plastic, and longer handles. The 3/8” inserts require a lot of effort with even this tool but it has held up to 30+ inserts so far.

Came with a wide variety of adapters, and you can always add more. There's no real indicator for when the rivet nut (rivnut) is set, you get a feel. I overdid it on the first one and bent my sheet metal. Very easy to use tool that simply works!

Like some other reviews, the first unit I received broke on my first attempt to use it (Pivot pin retainer snapped). I was willing to risk that this was a defective unit and requested a direct replacement via Amazon. Unfortunately, after making the request, I discovered that this model does not work with the longer "plus nut" style rivet nuts.I needed to order this unit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JBNNJ3QI tested the 2nd unit, and it worked perfectly. This means I need to send it back and now order the correct tool. I have to admit that I was almost hoping the 2nd unit would also break so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.So, while it was annoying that the first unit broke, I still rate this at 4 stars.

It's a great product! But the personal phone support is even better.Full disclosure...I broke this tool on my first insert because I didn't know how to use it properly. What the directions don't tell you isn't surprising, it takes a feel for the tool to keep from over torqing. It's like trying to teach a kid not to strip or break every bolt by learning when to back off (Kevin). With this tool, Don't tighten the nut any more than you can when initially installed prior to pressing (the directions say you can, but you better know what your doing first (Ha)!Anyway, I knew right away what I did (overtorque) I called the 800# and they sent me the new lever mechanism immediately (i swear it will come out of it's housing, it's just stubborn because of powder coating). Once I got it put together it worked just as I knew it would..!!..or I should say, I used it proficiently, so the results were more than rewarding.It's a great tool, if you have some tool savvy. Those pictures are 1/2" serts in a steel bed with the coating trimmed away for a flush mount. Yes, it takes some effort for that size sert. I did a little pressing, rotated, and did a little more, and stopped before I broke it. No problem!Oh yeah, if you bend the Nutsert underneath, it's your fault from overtorqing (Kevin!!).Somebody here said the case had aluminum latches. I can't confirm what they have, but mine are silver painted plastic. It will take additional storage for a big stash of different size nutserts, but plenty room for a project or three if you already know the size you want. Very adequate storage.I'm stoked! I am just now realizing all the projects I can use this for. Almost as handy as a tractor.

The design of this tool is inadequate, the lever fulcrum fails repeatedly. have broken two so far and will NOT purchase another one. first failure was under warranty, used the replacement once then it sat for 5 months before I used it again, boom second use and it fails again....VERY DISAPPOINTED.ASTRO PNEUMATIC TOOLS.

My first experience with this tool and it is not a good one. The first 3/8 x 16 nut I tried to pull, broke this tool.Upon inspection of what broke I found that part # 12,( 1452-12) Activity Set broke at the pivot arm where the handle attaches. I called Astro Pneumatic Tool Company and of course they are closed until Jan. 2, 2019. I guess I will find out after the 2nd of Jan. what to do as they state in their warranty to call the 800 number and get instructions as to how to handle the warranty, this is to either replace the tool or repair the tool. Time will tell.Other than that it is a complete kit and has everything as advertised. Nice kit for the price, but, If I keep it, it will never pull anything over 5/16". I will have a better tool in my Box for heavier rivet nuts. This one will be for aluminum nuts ONLY!
