Wow! I love this NAS. Easy to set up and connect to apple products.

I know there are other more popular brands but this NAS meets my every need. It has a lot of applications that can run on it and since it also can run docker, the possibilities are fairly unlimited.I use it for storage of web camera feeds and it works perfect. It is also my Mac TimeMachine server and never skips a beat. Love this device.

I have my own servers that help me host my Plex libraries, backup my PCs, etc, and this is just far easier to use, manage and has great support, patches and updates to keep it running smoothly. A great option that doesn't take up space, uses minimal electricity, and with the right size hard drives (not included), you can create a pretty powerful cube of storage. With other apps from ASUSTOR, you can back up your PCs (Windows is what I use, not sure about Macs), has other apps for managing photos, sharing with others on the internet, etc. Support lifecycle seems decent, so I'll always suggest getting one of the latest units vs. an older unit that could be desupported in a few years, always check with the manufacturer.

Got this so I could have my own video and music library on home network. The Asustor was the perfect fit. Software even available from them to run the video movie server - feels like my own netflix! And the ease installing and setting up!

Easy to install and the interface is friendly. Has full funtionaity over your data. Perhaps 4GB of RAM would be icing on the cake if there were more free useful apps.

I got this along with 4 WD Red NAS 4TB drives to replace an aging Synology NAS. As I mainly needed a backup storage target, I chose this Asustor DriveStor 4 Pro. Easy setup, and the 2.5gbps NIC makes a huge difference (as long as your network supports that speed). The Asustor backup clients for PC works very well and has allowed me to drop my subscriptions for Acronis and Carbonite. So, this will eventually pay for itself. If you are looking for a NAS to host and run a lot of applications, this may not be the best choice, but if you are looking for a robust backup solution for your home, then this is highly recommended.

I get that it is a cheap device and for that it seems to function as a basic storage device, barely. They make all these promises about what the hardware can do and it is not physically capable of keeping up. It comes with a 2.5G network interface but the processor can barely keep up there. I was connecting directly to a 2.5G pcie card on a windows 10 machine and filetransfers rarely got close to saturating the port. And then when a background process started on the nas, the transfer would hang or crash and I would have to restart everything. It was frustrating but I eventually transfered all my data to this. Ok, it promises 4k transcoding. Yea right, it stutters at 1080p transcoding. So then I convert and download a bunch of h264 files. Some work fine, but again at 1080P, it sometimes fails to play a vido on Jellyfin and I check the nas and cpu utilization is 90+ and memory is also pretty much 100%. And it is usually like this even with nothing running. So I unistall everything except jellyfin, disable AV, disable backups, turn off all potential background processes, and still it cannot handle a single stream of 1080p x264 on jellyfin for a single user. And it is not the network connection, my pc can handle 3 concurrent h265 over a 1GBe connection, it is purely a cpu/ram limitation of this device that it cannot serve that traffic. So ultimately, set your expectations. As a backup location that is not running anything you rely on it is an ok pricepoint. But if you are expecting whay they promised atthis price point then it's not going to work. The thing is, if they weren't misleading about what they promised this device was capable of I probably would have been happy and it probably would have been a good deal. But the disappointment of expecting more and hitting the reality of the hardware limitations made this whole thing frustrating. Also, don't follow the "easy install" option, don't make an account and enable ez connect, and do not open any ports of this to the internet. This company has poor customer service and terrible security and it is not a matter of if, but a matter of when they will fall for ransomware again and you do not want to get caught in the crossfire, again.

Real-world speed 212MBps read and similar for writing close to 1.7Gpbs. While below 2.5Gbps limit, it is still close to the 2x speed of Synology DS416Play. Every single function in ADM runs an order of magnitude faster than anything in Synology, even on their Demo site. I have used Synology since 2013, but speed was one thing that I never liked about their products. Every single app is click and wait. I do not even see a point in adding so many apps when they simply do not respond.Asustor file system mapped on Windows responds much quicker than Synology even when multiple robocopies are in progress + photo scaling etc. While AS3304T has the power, the software is intentionally clipped, speeds are slower, and you do not actually get BTRFS, no read-only snapshots. One reason I got it for, allegedly a simple way to restore data if caught with Ransomware (not sure if that is true on not). I contacted support. They gave an alternative using iSCSI, but that was too much reading for me, and I was unsure if that solved it the same way. So I opted to return and upgrade to AS5304T.AS55304T ups the speed to 260-280MBps, which is close to 2.1Gbps, pretty close to the maximum on a single disk. It also allows BTRFS. The other cool thing is that you can use SSD as a volume if you truly want to saturate 2.5Gbps.Note on link aggregation gimmick. Any one connection can not have more than 2.5Gbps. So the fact that AS5304T comes with 2x2.5Gbps, they in aggregate can achive 5Gbps, by serving 2 clients or 2 connections, but one connection can not go over 2.5Gbps.For switch, I used Netgear GS110EMX. However, Ubiquiti came up with UniFi Flex XG switch that supports 4x10Gbps ports a pretty good alternative to Neatgear 2 port 10Gpbs. I hope it does not cook as it does not look it has a fan. While I may miss some of the Synology apps, I'm happy to reduce the shared file system to simply that, a shared file system that works at a pretty good speed. In fact, an advantage of fewer apps is less vector of attacks and fewer security issues. The fewer security issues, the less likelihood for the data to be Ransomwared. If you need apps, install them on another computer.
