Should work just fine. But I am a bit concerned with the sting that holds the weight to give you a reading rotting out or breaking. I was going to attempt to replace the string with some fishing line, but I would have to take apart the whole mechanism and worried it would break or not get put back together correctly. This is a fatal flaw and should be addressed.

For the money you would expect a somewhat flawless device. I'm new to rain barrels so I kindly gave it a 3, but I suspect I should have given it a 1. I took it off after a few weeks. I didn't find it accurate, and it somehow filled with with water, completely filled. I suspect that incident may have been my fault for having the tank too full. Don't know. It is a low tech device and prone to issues. Just a float on a string. For the money there is no computer intelligence, no sensor, no device controls. But then, they didn't say there was. I was just hoping that the simple device would do the job, but no.

However the range on the dial is very small as the unit is capable of measuring a 12 foot deep tank. So my little 330 gallon four foot tall tank just uses 20% of the dial. However it is good enough and all the world offers at the moment.
