Very solid microphone for its price point. Voice is maintained well. As a USB mic, it's extremely easy to setup; plug and play to the max. Compact & sleek, it's definitely not all that big and easily fits onto what I consider a small desk.My only real cons with my usage of it within the last two months is that the mute button can be finicky. It's a touch mute button, so it's not as though it's PHYSICALLY finicky, but the software might be a little dicey. Whenever you have it muted locally for a long period of time, it will stay muted locally for either a long duration after being unmuted or will not unmute. In order to fix this, you will be to replug your microphone. This is such a minor thing that it's not really THAT big of an issue, but the fact it's an issue does doc a star from it.As a side-note, the headphone jack for this microphone is in a weird spot. I'm not a big fan of it, at least. As a stand up microphone, it's pretty typical to have the headphone jack at the bottom of the microphone since it won't interfere with anything that way. This headphone jack is on the back of the microphone. I do not use a boom arm, due to my desk being pretty small and generally not being fit for the typical clamp type. It isn't enough of an issue to get in my way, but it doesn't make your setup look the best. That's not why I'm doccing a star though. One last gripe that doesn't really affect my rating--automatic gain control IS nice and it doesn't really have many issues. However, not being able to set your own gain with the mic is just kind of annoying since I'm used to that from much cheaper mics that go for half the price. There are two scroll wheels on the mic--one to adjust how much of the desktop audio versus your own mic audio you can hear, and then how loud the desktop audio is period. These only work with your headphone jack being plugged in, otherwise they're useless. As a side note, I do actually use the headphone jack. The amp inside of it is really nice compared to your typical computer amp inbuilt into your motherboard. Try it out.

This made a huge difference. Far superior to Shure7.

I love this thing. Sounds great, super simple to use, the noise cancellation on it is pretty good. I like the red/blue status LED as you can tell from a glance wether the mic is hot or not.My only complaint would be that when I first got it, there was a bug with the firmware that caused it to mute in windows. Updating the firmware fixed said issue.

The mic is great but had issues with muting/unmuting on Windows. After a firmware update to 1.0.3 from what it shipped with (1.0.2) it works perfectly. You can find the firmware and the upgrade program on Audio-Technica’s website.

People often say on my calls that I am robotic or breaking up. Switch to other mic, and problem clears up. Clearly my microphone is defective. Reseating the USB cable clears the issue for a day or two. I would recommend looking for a different microphone as my experience is that this one is not for every day use.

This is the classic AT2020, with automatic gain and noise suppression. The pop filter and stand work great for what they are, and feel solid. If you need automatic gain or noise suppression (likely yes if you are using this for gaming or just chatting on Discord / streaming), this is the model for you, but it also makes the AT2020 a little expensive for the quality of mic it is. Unfortunately, all of the equivalents including the Rode NT-USB+ are very similar quality with no real improvement in sound quality (it's just different), so this microphone is one of the best for this price range. NOTE: The Rode NT-USB+ does have some effects built in for mixing, so that may be the differentiator between the two for you. The Audio Technica is more of a set it and forget it mic, while the Rode is more for people who want to tweak their sound for live usage. For recording music, neither of these features matter. If you don't need the automatic gain and noise suppression but still need usb-c, look at the

The mute button doesn't work properly - sometimes it can go out of sync and get stuck with Windows thinking it's muted when it's not, and vice versa, so there's no way to get sound into Windows other than re-plugging in the mic. Which is too bad, because the sound quality is great, and so is the auto gain.
