I bought these to brush out my wood pulp bannetons. They are too harsh, firm for this job. I cannot fault these brushes for this, though the wording in the description could’ve been clearer…

Occasionally you have to scrub a cast iron pan if you're like me and every so often you fry something that despite your seasoning sticks in spots to the surface of the pan. I have a stainless steel chain mail scrubber for really tough residue, but for other grit I use the coconut bristle scrubbers. This provides enough sturdiness to scrub off anything that will not come off using a cloth or silicone-bristled scrubber. Silicone scrubbers great for ceramics and stainless steel but for carbon steel and cast iron, I'll go with the coconut bristles.

I bought two of these for my cast iron skillets. In past, I've used plastic scrapers with nylon bristles that didn't work too well & the bristles did not hold up well. Then I tried stainless steels wool scrubbers; took off too much seasoning finish. After that I used stainless steel "mail" scrubbers. Under hot water mean burned fingers with too much scrubbing. This product is perfect. The bristles are stiff enough to remove crud without destroying the well developed non-stick finish (especially important on my shallow egg cast iron skillet).The wood handles are quite ergonomic allowing for firm grasp while keeping my bare fingers from pure hot water. They work quickly, even on heavy residue. They rinse easily and dry quickly with an overnight airing to be paced later out of sight in a drawer. When they eventually wear out, I'll buy them again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
