This lamp will not work in my Mitsubishi TV even though it is the correct lamp. I have spent 4 months trying to get this thing to be recognized by the television. I took it out and reinstalled it several times, I cleaned the inside of the lamp box and I took extra care to be sure that all connections were secure - all to no avail. The light on the front still tells me that it doesn't recognize the lamp. I spoke with Mitsubishi twice, thinking that they could help fix the issue, they stated that the lamp was defective. I sent the seller a message on 11/12/20. No response yet.

This is the first time I have replaced the lamp assembly for my 92" Mitsubishi model WD-92840 which I purchased (10-07-2011) just prior to the manufacturer discontinuing production of these HDTV's. However, I didn't get my AV system all set-up until late January of 2012, so my original lamp assembly was used 2 years and 9 months before this replacement. Also, this lamp assembly comes with a Philips lamp which is not the brand that was originally installed from the factory. Instead, Mitsubishi uses the top of the line OSRAM lamp. Below the OSRAM label on the actual bulb it says P-VIP 180/1.0 E22r Made in China HG. The OSRAM and Philips are essentially the same lamp bulb but they are manufactured by separate companies. The assembly unit I purchased was very easy to install and slid in extremely easy, in fact it went in easier than I thought it would. The main thing you need to pay special attention to before ordering this part is the SKU # which is "915B4455011" and as long as you have that part number you are all good. There is a lot of talk on the internet about the lamp, specifically OSRAM vs Philips lamp bulb quality. Both are of excellent quality, but again, Mitsubishi shipped their DLP's with the OSRAM lamp (bulb) not the Philips lamp so you can draw your own conclusion(s). I have not really noticed a "big" difference in the picture quality as far as brightness etc... but I do notice that the picture is ready to view a few seconds quicker after I've turned the set on. Next time I need to replace the lamp assembly it won't matter to me which bulb (lamp) I use as long as the SKU# is a match and most important will be price. There are others offering this lamp assembly for less and a few for a lot less. I think I was "buying-in" to all the crap I was reading on the internet and that is why I went with the Philips. In hindsight it makes no difference except for what I have pointed out already but I also noted that the assembly's using the OSRAM bulb appear to cost less than the Philips units. Next time I'll probably use the OSRAM assembly since that is what Mitsubishi used at the factory. Before I purchased this part from Amazon I signed up for a free trial of Amazon's "PRIME" service and was told in writing that it would be delivered in 2-days, it wasn't. I had to make a few calls to customer service and was told the vendor didn't ship it in a timely manner. I was upset and was immediately doubting the value of "PRIME" since my first experience was not going as it should. After my third call in 2 days I finally spoke with a customer service rep who was actually in South Africa. This rep "gets it" when it comes to customer service! He issued a full refund back to my CC and extended my free trial with PRIME for an additional month. That is what should have been done in the first place without me spending about 3 1/2 hours total on the phone with Amazons customer service, before I finally had the pleasure of being helped by the gentleman in South Africa. The company that was the Amazon seller/supplier was Exclusivebulbs based out of KY and I do believe they are a good company, they just had a shipping issue(s) and/or delay. Again, the Amazon rep in SA made it right. I learned a long time ago that it pays to complain, you just need to talk to the right person sometimes, that "gets-it" and wants to make it right. After all you are the most important customer to them at that moment. It's all about customer service these days and retaining those customers for repeat business is important. There are a lot of other companies that would appreciate your business if another one doesn't, even if one of them pretty much has a monopoly, if you catch my drift, you can find what you need elsewhere. In summary this is an excellent part and don't get caught up in the Philips vs OSRAM debate. Depending on how long you view your TV each day will ultimately determine when your lamp assembly needs replacement. If you watch it everyday on average 2-5 hours per day M-F and 4-12 hours per day on weekends/days-off and this includes viewing your DVD's/BluRay's I would recommend replacing every 2 years. If you just occasionally use it a few times a week you could probably go about 3-4 years. These bulbs are not LED bulbs and gradually become weaker quicker with regular usage. There was statements on the internet about people not changing theirs for 5-7 years, really? Again, every 2 years for normal/high usage and about every 3-4 years for minimal/low usage and you'll be happy. Another matter that will affect bulb life is the "brightness level" your TV is set at, but not as much as some on the internet will have you believe. I had my Mitsu professionally calibrated so it isn't as bright as what you would probably find on the showroom floor of BestBuy/Magnolia HiFi etc...just follow my guidelines and you'll be fine. The brighter the room the brighter you'll need the TV adjusted to. However, if most viewing is at night or in a dark room you won't need the TV adjusted to a high brightness level. Finally, concerning OSRAM, they have another lower tier version of their lamp bulbs and I suspect Philips might as well. Just stick with "OSRAM" in the singular sense i.e. OEM and you'll be fine, and avoid anything that isn't OEM. The OSRAM "Neolux" are the top tier OEM version. Replace the entire assembly as one entire unit, i.e. lamp bulb and housing unit = lamp assembly. Don't just replace the bulb thinking you are saving yourself money, when in fact you'll be earning yourself a major headache trying to remove and replace the actual bulb from the housing unit. By the way, these lamps contain mercury and shouldn't be touched or broken, another very good reason to make sure you purchase the entire replacement lamp assembly with the housing unit. Exclusivebulbs provides everything you'll need to ship (free postage-paid shipping label) in the original shipping box to a recycling unit. You can also drop it off at Lowes or HomeDepot at no charge for recycling. I usually don't write reviews on products etc... however, I love my big-ass 92-inch, or 7-foot 8-inch DLP HDTV so much, especially for BluRay and the NFL that I just had to say something. Oh yeah, internet editorial snobs need not reply and/or comment on my review of this as no one likes a bully here, so just mind your own business and move on...

Installed this lamp in my Mitsubishi 73" DLP TV (WD-73C11) about a week ago without issue. Packaging was solid and so was the product. Almost no difference in build quality between this and the stock OEM bulb it was replacing. Instructions were minimal to say the least but there isn't much involved installing one of these things so long as it has the lamp housing which this did and was the main reason I bought it.If you're trying to save some bucks by just buying the bare bulb I wouldn't recommend it. Really sucks to have a bulb blow up on you or melt your housing because it wasn't installed/cleaned properly. Its not rocket science or anything to do mind you, just to easy to screw up IMO. The bulbs also have mercury in them so make sure to dispose of them properly and not just toss them in the trash.///////////////7/22/2013 follow up:Still working good so far. I've noticed it takes a little longer for this bulb to warm up and produce a bright image than my old bulb but that is OK. Reading around on these DLP TV sets it seems if you turn the contrast down you tend to get significantly better bulb life. Guess I'll find out how that goes.
