The first radiator was leaking and they immediately got on it and sent a replacement they offered a full refund but I just needed the radiator.. we had it installed by the same mechanics that had the car and it works really well, no leaking at all!!

First off: The construction of this radiator looks great. Customer service was also pretty good. I asked if they had any suggestions for the trans cooler line issue. They asked for photos (of this known issue) they said they couldn't help and offered a refund. I sent the radiator back and got a full refund. I wasted some time on this, but ultimately it didn't cost me anything.Like other reviewers have stated: The trans cooler lines won't work in a 99 Outback. I hoped I'd get lucky and that issue would have been fixed. Nope. The bottom line sticks out too far. The lines are also the wrong size: 8mm vs 10mm on the original rad. That said, this radiator would probably work fine in earlier Legacys and any year with a manual trans.

If you value your time or car don't buy this product. Every connection is so loose. Alarms go off when the flared part of the connection is smaller than the running diameter inside your hoses. Every hose just falls on with zero interference fit. The hoses rattle back and forth even with the clamp snug. You have to take the clamp to near stripped. Tried using fresh hose and same thing. Even the reservoir hose is loose and there is no hose clamp. The perfectly fine factory clamps don't go that small. The worst is the automatic transmission connection. way too small. Even if you use smaller clamps the hoses just can't go that small without being smashed and cut by the clamp. This mechanical deformation is bad for the hose and causes a weak spot in an already weak area. So small that the transmission is at least 25% less flow and 20% less in the antifreeze too. Warning the fitting have to be really torqued and checked for the transmission lines those are the things you attach the hoses too. (extra places to leak) Even the drain plug is not installed tight and leaks. Spend $10-$40 and get one that works. Also says not for road use and only for racing and is illegal to use on the road. So the company has no US safety oversight.

Everything was good about this item. I had to modify the transmission line connections to get it to fit properly, but after that, it performs perfectly.

I bought it for a 1999 Subaru Legacy with 2.5L 4 cyl. engine. Because mine was a mid year production, some notable changes that were made were: 1. Lower driver's side radiator mount is closer to the sub-frame requiring the lower transmission cooler hook up to be shortened before the 90 degree bend (see pic). 2. It is also notably heavier that the stock one I pulled out. Upon examination it seems to have much better termination & folded welds at the corners & along the seams & the plastic seems thicker. You might need a flaring tool if you need to cut the cooler line so the flare nut can grab it and seat it right. Otherwise I am extremely pleased with the quality and how minor the modifications needed were compared to other after market replacements.
