An oil catch tank/ can is used in turbo applications, or high-performance racing applications where excessive blow-by (leakage past the piston rings) of air and fuel vapor occurs. This creates a positive pressure in the crankcase. During engine operation, blow-by gases, as well as oil mist from the rotating components of the engine, pass through the PCV valve and are routed back into the intake for the engine to burn off. However, some of the oil mist and other by-products settle along the engine intake and over time form a gunk. The oil catch tank collects such oil mist and condenses the fuel vapors while allowing cleaner gases to be passed back into the intake.

It definitely catches the oil and lessens the accumulation in the intake manifold. It does require some installation planning for your particular vehicle. I needed to purchase 3/4 oil resistant hose (fuel hose worked) and a brass adapter to change from the car's 3/8 size to the can's 3/4 size fittings. In addition a couple of 3/4 brass 90 degree elbows to properly route the hose back to the intake manifold's 3/4 fitting. In short, Toyota has a custom hose that goes from the PCV's 3/8 connection to the intake manifold's 3/4 connection which you need to plan for. Lastly, I was limited on the location of the can under the hood. Once again plan your installation. I found everything I needed on Amazon.

Nice product overall...the inlet/outlet hose diameter was the main reason I purchased it. The o'ring for the cover looks like it won't make it past a year though I plan to drill and fit a tap and a hose before I install and do fit some scotch brite or something in the slot in the cover.

Great cheap catch can that worked well with my SC set up with the 3/4” connections.I’d suggest putting a filter material in the baffled section though.
