About this item

  • Spin handle to the top of the spiraled shift and flip over the ratchet. Continuous clockwise turning inserts into the cork. The ratchet flips over and the cork is extracted. 5-5/8" long. Chrome Plated. Pkg. code: BU, BX, C.

TO USE: 1. Flip over the cam at the top of the threaded shaft. This locks the handle to the shaft. 2. Place the corkscrew on the bottle and turn the spiral into the cork. 3. As soon as the cam comes into contact with the body frame of the corkscrew the cam will flip over, automatically. 4. Continuous turning will allow the shaft to come through the hole in the cam. Keep turning clockwise and the cork will rise from the bottle.

This is, head-and-shoulders, the best corkscrew on the market! Rotate the thumbscrew to drive the screw into the cork, then flip a cam and keep rotating the thumbscrew in the same direction to slowly and positively extract the cork. Never cork the wine again! You control the depth to which it goes, and because it extracts the cork slowly, you rarely -- almost never -- exceed the mechanical strength of the cork itself. Plus, it's just cool to use. Watch your guests' bemused expressions as you work your magic on the bottle. Wish I'd invented this!

This was harder to find than I thought, perhaps because of the way it's called. Some call it a "fly nut" corkscrew, and here it was called "automatic corkscrew, chrome plated." It's not quite as substantial as a much older one I have. There are fewer threads in the corkscrew itself, which makes it a little more cumbersome to get started. Once you do, it's fine.

I am replacing an older corkscrew that finally "gave up the life" (had it since 1971!). This does not work as "automatically" as the one it is replacing and it is also flimsier.

I bought this after using a friend's Corkscrew. I was so impressed that I bought 2 of them! One for the kitchen and one for my tool box!!

I already had this type of corkscrew and love it. This one is not as sturdy but works ok. This is the one for my RV and the good one stays home.

Its OK. It works but not as smooth as my old one that was a different brand. But it is an automatic so its better than the reg kind.

Pretty good, not as good as the antiques- but what is? Generally -I love this style!Chrome plating is weak - chipped a little on the 1st use.

Got this corkscrew to replace one of the same type, but found it to be of lesser quality. Happily, we found the original and keep this one around for picnics and road trips. It works just fine, but just doesn't feel solid and well made.
