I haven’t used this yet but I tested it to make sure it worked and worked great I think it will be a very handy tool working on automobile electrical systems.

I've seen my share of electrical gremlins in vehicles, and a good circuit tester is an invaluable tool. Even for the DIYer just starting out, understanding basic automotive electrical systems is crucial, and a tool like this makes it significantly easier. Forget fiddling with alligator clips and trying to interpret tiny multimeter readings, especially in cramped engine bays. This tester offers a simple, intuitive way to diagnose common electrical issues. This particular circuit tester is a decent option, especially for the price point. It does exactly what it claims: tests for both positive and negative circuits, checks for ground, and can even apply power or ground to a circuit for testing component functionality. This last feature is particularly useful for isolating problems. For example, if a light isn't working, you can use this tool to apply power directly to the light fixture, bypassing the car's wiring, and quickly determine if the issue is the light itself or the wiring harness. The long cord is a definite plus, allowing you to reach those hard-to-access areas without constantly repositioning your power source. The clear red/green LED indicators are a welcome change from squinting at a multimeter display, especially in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. While I appreciate the included storage bag, I did notice the construction is not amazing. This means it's probably not going to withstand the same abuse as some higher-end, versions. Treat it with care, and it should last.Internally, the soldering isn't the cleanest I've seen. If you're comfortable with soldering, it might be a good idea to reinforce the connections for added durability. Also, the probe tip could be sharper for getting into tighter spots. While it doesn't have a built-in voltmeter, for the price, it's a trade-off I'm willing to make. You could even add a small, readily available digital voltmeter yourself if you're so inclined.Overall, this circuit tester is a solid choice for the weekend mechanic or anyone tackling basic automotive electrical work. It simplifies circuit testing and makes it easier to understand what's happening. While it might not be as robust as professional-grade tools costing several times more, the functionality and price make it a worthwhile addition to any toolbox. Just remember, like any tool, proper handling and care will ensure a longer lifespan. The price under $20 is great as well when you can get it with a coupon.

I have a 1979 C10 that I bought to work on with my son. It needs... a lot. The wiring has been cobbled together and patched and spliced over the years with speaker wire, wire nuts, duct tape, you name it. This tester has a cord that's long enough to get me where I need to be without being overly burdensome, which I really appreciate. And the great thing about this over a basic test light: I can test for a positive OR a negative switched circuit, check for ground, etc., all without changing a setting or anything. I have several multimeters and other pieces of test equipment but my eyes don't do vision things at 47 like they did when I was a spry 40 years old (ha!), and being to glance and see a "red light" or "green light" and know what's happening in the circuit is really nice instead of having to try and squint to read a multimeter display. I also really appreciate that they include a storage bag to keep it all bundled together and not make my tool box a birds nest of wires.

If youre doing any kind of electrical work/testing on an auto then chances are you'll have a multimeter or voltmeter. This is another good addition for the instances you want to check polarity. It doesn't replace a multimeter but can definitely come in handy. It's held up fine so far but the plastic could become damaged if dropped or put under heavy weight/pressure. I also wish the probe had a little more of a sharp point for when you need to get into the tighter spots. That being said (and taking the price into consideration) this is a good option for the home mechanic or someone that may not need to troubleshoot wiring all the time.

I've always made due with a multimeter for electrical diagnosis but this beats many home brews methods to do a lot of work.If you need to test if something works, use this to supply 12v.If you need to check for continuity, use this instead. The leads are long and easier than running test leads with the multimeter. If you need to check for ground, use this and an easy light will indicate ground. If you need to check for power, same thing with the light. This is a powerful tool and can let the smoke out of a module if used wrong, so be careful. But for quick diagnosis, this is perfect.
