When you get it out of the box it feels like cheap junk but after using it you'll have little more respect for it. I have used it for diagnostic on possible vacuum leaks multiple times and it works perfectly.

You got a leak? This thing is perfect for finding those pesky vacuum leaks. The bellows supplied with the kit expanded well to provide a positive seal. Well worth the money

I needed this tool to diagnose possible vacuum leaks on a 1980’s Honda automobile. The item arrived with all the included parts and was packaged well. It generated plenty of smoke after a few minutes. However, the instructions for use were written in broken English and not very descriptive. Turning the item on is done by attaching it to a 12 volt battery with spring-clamped connections. It would be nice if the item included an “on/off” power switch. The outer cover is attached with 4 screws – 1 of which was stripped so the cover did not fasten properly but that had no affect on the use of the tool. It seems to be a good bargain for a “shade tree” mechanic like me who is mechanically savvy.

Smoke testing is really an old-school technique, but if you suspect you have a leak there really is no better way to find it. This unit is compact, self-contained, generates the smoke and pressurizes it, and comes with a pile of adaptors that will connect it to virtually anything you might want to test (I've only tried it for automotive use, but 18psi should be enough pressure to test the plumbing and other passages). This is a cool and useful tool, but if you're restoring/working on an 80's or early 90's vehicle that still had miles of vacuum lines under the hood it's almost a necessity.
