How to use
- Dowel centers allow you to precisely transfer the location of one set of dowel holes to the corresponding locations in the other half of a doweled joint. Just drill one set of holes, slip in the dowel centers and press the joint together.
- The pins on the dowel centers will precisely mark the hole locations on the other member.

Work as they should, fits perfectly for the drillbit hole size, no play allows a perfect join every time.Durable product. This is by far the best set i have had.Note: these are not hollow so they cannot be used with a dowel already in the hole.

The points are sharp and the barrel cleanly fits in appropriate size mortises. Better fitting than a lot of other inexpensive centers I had in the past.

Works exactly as they should, and fits the drilled holes perfectly. I should get a metric set too, but I rarely use metric sizes where they might be needed.

There are many sellers of dowel center pins but every other one has loads of reviews stating they are metric and fit poorly in holes drilled with Imperial (inch) twist drills.These centers do indeed appear to be "real" inch-sized; they fit into holes drilled with a 1/4", 3/8", 5/16", and 1/2" twist drill with light pressure in softwood. They *can* be gotten out with a fingernail... but that's not very fun or fast.You can't tell from the photos, but they are solid, not hollow.

I was trying make a right-angle joint with some relatively small pieces and I just couldn't get good results with the dowel jigs that I had. Not even with my drill press and accurate measuring. With these dowel pins, accuracy was less important for the first set of holes because transferring the marks to the mating piece created the final accuracy I needed for the second set of holes. I have the Milescraft jig and while it has given me great results, the pieces I was trying to put together just didn't work well with the jig. Relying on my aging eyes on the drill press wasn't doing it for me either. These dowel pins were just the ticket and at a great price, too.

I would have given this 5 stars if I could use these with a dowel that is already glued in. I have another set that has a hollow stem so that you can put in on a dowel that is glued in to get the matching location on the mating wood. These do not have that ability. The description and the pictures don't indicate that. I assumed that they could be used in that way. That being said they are accurate, easy to use, and does all the other tasks that they are intended for.
