The bars are easy to assemble and relatively easy to put on. They feel sturdy enough to leave on

The installation instructions could be a lot better! See another reviewers instruction tips (thank you). A little cumbersome install, but ot hard. About 15 minute job. Panoramic sunroof works fine with it, and there is no noise at all while cruising 120 km/h. I haven't tested it with a load yet, will update soon. Highly recommend. (2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee).

Good quality, fits perfect. Make sure you look at the "front" and "back" stamped on the clamps so it lines up first try. I recommend this product

Like everyone else, yes, poor instructions and I still have no idea what the locks are for. Otherwise, arrived quickly, packaging good, product in perfect condition. Thx to all the tips and instructions others posted, installation was easy, but plan on an hour start to finish. Use a step stool or step ladder. Have a tape measure handy, use a star bit in ratchet screw driver or a star socket and ratchet. Otherwise, the tool provided works but takes longer. Note - the inside and outside screws work together. The inside screw needs little adjustment. It opens and closes the ‘jaws’ of the feet in order to grip the roof rack rail. The outside screw drops the jaws down from inside the plastic base in order to allow for the jaws to engage with the rail track. So think of the two screws as: inside = clamping jaws open/close outside = clamping jaws move up/down. Be patient. One cross bar as noted, is a bit shorter and goes at the back. Longer bar to the front. When tightening the inside and outside screws, tighten them together. Do not tighten one all the way then the other. Do not over tighten them. Get them snug, then do the opposite side to snug, then final tighten both sides. They need to be a quarter turn past tight but not crazy tight. The only other comments I offer are yes to the airplane wing shape as far as which way to mount. The point goes to the rear, the rounded end faces forward. Also, after reading other comments and working with the rubber strips, I wrapped one layer of good quality black half inch vinyl electrical tape around the rack ends near each lock to further secure the rubber strips and avoid ‘blow-off’. Mopar wanted $275. These are fine with a little finesse for $85. Good luck.

Assumed this was going to be a quality product and an excellent alternative to similar cross bars from Subaru. I was wrong. My first hint was the instructions did not match the way the product appeared in the box. The instructions are written and pictures displayed as if the end pieces on the cross bars are already installed. They are not. You must assemble them yourself. Not a tough task, except for the fact that it is not easy to tell the leading edge from the trailing edge of the bar. And it must be assembled correctly. My second hint of poor quality product was how tough it was to get the top half of the clamp to thread into the bottom half of the clamp. It took many, many attempts. We started with the front bar.My third hint of poor quality was that the rear bar did not fit on the rack. The 2013-2017 Subaru Crosstreks have the same roof rack configuration. The Auxmart rear bar was about 1/4" to 1/8" too wide. We could not get the bar to go on to the car. However, we were leaving in the morning so we did not have an option to return the product at this time. We only bought the cross bars to help keep the gear bag off the roof of the new car. So the decision was made to allow the bag (an awesome product made by Keeper) to sit on the roof, but be lashed to the front cross bar (as well as the side bars. We used a mat to help protect the roof/paint. Off we went on our trip. The final nail in the coffin of this poorly built product was after about 600 miles of driving (about 11 hours at 60-70mph), one of the front rack clamp bolts pulled though the molded plastic of the clamp. To our surprise, the 'nut' securing the clamp was only 1/4" in diameter, with no associated washer. There was no way it was going to hold the clamp on for a long period of time. We also confirmed that the opposite side clamp was about to pull through too. Fortunately, we were in a town that still has an auto parts store open. Some old classic threaded hose clamps came to our rescue and anchored the cross bar to the car for the rest of the trip.Super disappointed in such a poorly designed and manufactured product. It will be returned. Im expecting a full refund. Ugh.

Great rack with terrible instructions - as mentioned several times by other buyers. Thank you all for your tips.Installation on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland:- Discard instructions in box. They are misleading and frustrating.- Longer bar is the front, shorter is the rear (Jeep GC is wider towards the front, tapers to the rear)- The more round edge should be facing the front of the SUV. Also notice that the base is more angled back on the leading (front side) vs. a bit more straight up & down on the trailing (rear side). Use the sticker to label your rear cross bar, front facing position. For me, I put the sticker on the inside passenger's side tower. This will come in handy if you ever remove the racks.- Lift rubber insert (center) and peel it back about 6" on each side- Loosen the inside screws 1.5 - 2 turns (no more)- Loosen the outside screws (8 - 12 full turns) until you see the metal bracket drop down from the plastic housing. Keep loosening until the metal piece is about 1/8" below the housing.- If you have trouble connecting the metal bracket into the roof rail, loosen the outside screw a little more, then tray again. If the bracket doesn't pop into your roof rail with a few wiggles / adjustments, it's because you haven't lowered it enough. Don't pry, pull or hammer - loosen more.- Once you have both sides of the bracket seated inside the roof rail, tighten both sides. *Measure or use a mark on the rail to ensure you you even on both sides. I aligned the edge of my base to a bolt in the roof rail to ensure they were even on both sides.** I am a long time Yakima guy but paying $450+ for crossbars on a $50K truck that should have arrived with them was insult to injury. I bought these cross bars + a Yakima SUP/ surf attachment for $250 all in. If someone shares with you the installation method of these bars, you will have them on in less than 20 minutes and you'll be very pleased.
