Wonder if this rod will catch a trout? How about a Spanish Mackerel? Took the reel into the backing and bent this rod way more than any trout so far. It's stiff and it throws these big flies just fine. Yes, this rod will work fine for you, too!

Wish the case was a bit bigger so it would hold a reel as well. For the price, this is a good deal for a good product 👌

Never fished them. Ordered 3 different weights to check out. The top guide on every one was corroded. Otherwise the finish was acceptable. Quality of the reel seats seems a bit cheap, but at the end of the day it’s a sub $60 fly rod. If the top guides weren’t corroded they could be good for the price, but if they’re corroded before making a trip to the river they’re never going to survive.

Action way to fast 10' 7/8, Tip section very thin to lite for 3# to 5# fish in lake. I think I will need another tip section after first time out, We'll see. Other than that the rod looks very nice and case looks strong.

I took the 5/6 weight out on the Gunnison River in Colorado last week. I had new Scientific Angler WF-6-F line on an older Pflueger 1595 reel. I was able to shoot my nymphs every bit as far or farther than with my much more expensive Reddington or Yellowstone rods. I like the way it handled and the cork butt handle is a nice addition on a mid-weight rod. At $43, I could purchase ten or more of these to one Sage and never worry about breaking it in the field. Time will tell on durability. I like the level of detail, such as the small white dots of paint to help you align the rod pieces when putting it together. No more constant adjustments after adding each section. Plug and ready to play. The rod has a nice balance, maybe even better if I'd have used a lighter reel.Ignore the negative reviews about not being able to shoot casts with this rod. It seemed just fine to me and I've been fly fishing for 40 years.

Shipment arrived promptly in a well packaged box. Have not used rod for fishing but looks very well made. I purchased the 9'6" 6 wt model, it has a fighting butt and 2 stripping guides. The rod has 4 sections which fit together well and has alignment dots. The rod weighs 4.1 oz, and seems to have a good backbone with a flexible tip using the wiggle test, the bottom 3 sections seem to be stiffer than the tip. The rod comes with a cloth sleeve and cordura tube. This rod and accessories are a great value especially for newbies or fishermen on a budget. I ordered an Aventik FLK 7/9 reel to pair with this rod, I plan to use this set up for indicator fishing for trout. I will update review when I'm able to to get out on the water.
