The installation was pretty simple, but in the description it says I can keep my reverse camera function. What it doesn't say is that I need another wiring harness that I can't seem to find. I asked them through their website and never got an answer. I am still figuring out how to wire my OEM reverse camera. I was hoping for a simple installation without any surprises, but at least the unit functions well.Update: 21 APR 2025Awesafe reached out to me after I left my review. While there was some initial confusion possibly because of a language barrier, the issues I have appear to be solved. Awesafe sent me a harness which allowed the head unit to connect with my back up camera without any wire splicing or any other complicated process. As of today, I have tested the radio and everything works as it should. They didn't ask me to update this review yet, but I felt compelled since they went out of their way to ensure I was satisfied. I originally gave this product 3 stars, but I will happily give them 5 stars.

Installed in a 2018 Toyota Sequoia Platinum with the JBL and it works decent. However, in the last few weeks of owning it (3 months) the unit wouldn't power on randomly. Also, if your using Android auto, you will lose most of your steering wheel controls. The only thing that worked accurately was the volume. The setting for "learning" your steering wheel doesn't work. Overall, it's decent for the money, but would be hard to recommend at the moment.

Works great, way better than I was expecting for the price. I have a 17 Sequoia with navigation and the jbl sound system. Came with everything I needed to install except for the harness for the back up camera. You need to get the pac harness cam-ty12, everything was plug and play and no splicing needed.

First off, this is a MASSIVE upgrade to the factory JLB nav system on a 2012 Platinum Tundra. There are a lot of settings and integration features to set up...or if you are lazy just go to Zlink and add your iPhone for CarPlay. Done. No worries about the other settings...To start. This may be a little lengthy, but learn from my mistakes.Youtube is your FRIEND!!! Pretty much every question you have about an Awesafe radio is on there. Just take the time, a breath, a sip of whiskey, or wine, your choice, and listen. The diagram can seem a little cumbersome. IF YOU ARE A COMPLETE NOVICE...watch a video on radio installation for your vehicle about 5 times before even starting.I have installed stereos all my life like me. IF YOU ARE A COMPLETE EXPERT...watch a video on radio installation for your vehicle about 5 times before even starting. Trust me.The diagram is VERY high level, but accurate. Once your factory radio is out, make a note of how many connections you have. Match them to the supplied harness, plug in 1 for one. IF THERE ARE EXTRAS, do not fret. There will be. Awesafe is just covering all bases with what harness matching your vehicle is supplied.I am going to segue to the backup camera IF FACTORY FOR A TUNDRA: There is an additional harness you will need to buy with the 24 pin adapter (Tundra Specific as noted) AND the supplied connection that goes to the back of the radio to the YELLOW RCA off the harness. This is not specifically labeled in the diagram but you will need it and Customer Service was kind enough to help me out with this.Once Ready:CarPlay, the units settings, and your phone settings are completely different animals. There are settings on the phone, head unit, and Carplay bears repeating. Get those in sync, and you will be smiling. Again, videos will help you navigate all of this.SOUND: DSP, EQ, and Sub are all under one menu. Leave the Sub at low and play with the DSP and EQ until you get your desired range. I am still playing with this 2 weeks in and do not know if there is a sub “Bypass” But mine cuts out at 30/40 volume. 29, you are gold and I am at the age this makes me more than happy. If you NEED to go to 40, watch Spinal Tap’s lesson on 11...Videos will not help navigate this. This is all personal and need to be played with. The Bluetooth: OK, not the best. Once it fires up do not make an immediate phone call. It apparently takes a second to “Talk” To your phone before making a call.CarPlay itself, Seamless. Like my wife's 2024 factory unit.Niggles:No matter how many times I turn on “Media” in reverse drive, it turns itself off again. Not sure if there is one of the three OS settings I need to play with, not a deal breaker at all.Backup Camera: Priceless. Factory was passable being a 2012. I don’t know what Awesafe did, but the new version is SO much better once it gets working.Moving icons, setting up home screen, menus, ETC, I hate to cop out...Just youtube it. It will do a lot better than I can explain in a review.Customer service...I don’t know who “A” is at the company, they need a raise. Walked me through what 2 wires I was missing in my personal install. Top 100% as far as I am concerned. Even answered emails with pics, highlights, and wires circled to make sure I got the right one. I sat out there with a voltmeter for 2 hours trying to figure out 2 little connections. They answered it. NOW...it will take them about 24-48 hours to get back to you. Patience young padawan. It will all get answered. Smile at new head unit. The Bad:Is it “Factory camera compatible”? Yes!!! After you buy the right harness which is not listed in the description. Still for the price and service, totally acceptable for a few days later to have this upgrade.FIGURING STUFF out!!!! yes. It will take you some time. WATCH the VIDEOS!!!! I know it sounds corny and repetitive, but trust me. You can spend hours trying to figure it out or just Youtube it.This is why this section is so short. The UI and screen are not intuitive AT All unless you are 15 and know how to set up a Gran Turismo PS car, Then you are gold.OK I think I am done. O/A – 4/5 stars. Is it perfect? NO. Is it a DARN site better than what the factory unit can do? YES!!!Well done Awesafe. Will edit review with more updates.O/A recommendation, a good and inexpensive upgrade if you are willing to put in the time.PS: Do not forget the extra harness if using a factory backup camera!!!!

The Awesafe stereo is a nice upgrade to my 2011 Tundra. It's a great fit and looks great. It was easy to install and I love Apple Car play. I'm very pleased with it so far.
