This backpack conversion strap system is really easy to set up and use. The padded straps are comfortable and durable. And this system allows you to take a wheeled hard suitcase and strap it to your back giving you greater mobility and speed making it functional as well.

I was both intrigued and baffled at the same time with this contraption. Thinking it was a novel idea, but why would anyone want to haul around a WHEELED piece of luggage on their back. But then I realized there are a number of scenarios where this would be useful. Not the least of which is biking or scootering somewhere. Also, hiking with the protection of a hardshell and the convenience of a backpack. Once you get past the weird optics, this really is practical. That said, the construction is solid. plactic buckles are hard and sturdy. The straps are strong and easy to adjust. Stitching is commerical-grade and the backing provides adequate cushioning for comfort without adding extra bulk. The pull ring design to adjust tension on the back, and the buckle locks to prevent accidental release are thoughtful design elements....and might I say necessary. As convenient and useful as this is, this is not something I'd use for my usual air travel. First of all, I usually travel with a backpack carry-on, and BOTH can't be carried on my back. Secondly, attaching this rig to a piece of luggage is not a quick proposition. I'm looking to get in/out of airports as quickly as possible and can't see putzing around with this at baggage claim for 15 minutes...especially when I can simply wheel it to my vehicle/Uber/taxi. No, this is for those long trips/hikes/walks when this would be on your back for awhile. If the time to install this is longer than the actual time it will be carried on my back, it's time to consider "Plan B".

There is an endless debate online about 2-wheel vs 4-wheel luggage, with the common arguments on each side being "four wheels don't do well on rough terrain like cobblestone" and "two wheels are less comfortable and inconvenient for small spaces". I've always preferred four wheel, but I do fear the eventual wheel blowout, so this seemed like an interesting option. I travel with a carry-on and a personal item (backpack). I used an underseat two-wheel for testing; it was empty, hence the bit of deformation you can see in the photos.First impression was that the set is a little bulky, but I think with a little compression it's not too large for at least fairly minimalist travel. The straps and buckles are wide and seem quite sturdy, and the back pad is not only pretty comfortably thick, but also has several pockets to stow items you might need to use while your luggage is tied up, so that was a nice touch. The straps are also fairly comfortable, assuming your suitcase isn't ludicrously heavy. There's two big buckles for the vertical strap and two buckles for the side straps, which makes it easy to put on and remove, especially after you've sized the straps to your particular case. The buckles also all have locks on them to help prevent accidental openings, though I don't know how likely that would be.The cover keeps the straps contained when not in use, and there's a small buckle to keep it attached. I don't think you'd ever use it like a mini backpack like in the photos, but it's useful. I kinda wished it was a little bigger or expandable so you could use it to cover the suitcase wheels when in backpack mode and keep them from getting your clothes dirty or something. Overall, it's a well made product. As far as practicality; it shouldn't take more than a minute to put the straps on if they're already sized. For a four-wheel, you can definitely leave them on the case, but you would need to secure some of the tails so they don't drag on the ground or get caught. For a two-wheel, you may be able to leave them on, but it might be harder to work around the wheels and keep the straps clean. Obviously, if you're forced to gate check, you will definitely want to remove them! (I considered using these to reduce the chance of having my bag gate checked since backpacks are much less likely to get targeted, but I don't know if this would be effective or not. Maybe, depending on the size of the case.) I would say if you know you'll be traveling over mixed terrain and still want to take advantage of wheels when available, this would be a worthwhile addition to your travel equipment.

Really interesting contraption- It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and I think it does a fine job of it. The straps are soft and adjustable like I can adjust my backpacking rucksack. If I had to carry a crate or box or luggage a long distance, or up a flight of stairs- this would be the system to use. It's also nice that it has some buid it zippers on the inside and the elastic cover that contains the straps could also be used as or for a temporary waterproof shelter from a light rain on the luggage you are carrying. All that said- practically speaking- I have had to carry luggage on cobble stones in europe and it's a pain. Most of my larger bags I opt for the hideaway straps so I can mount them on my back, plus its just easier to carry a backpack than roll something long distances or up stairs if you're in shape. I just don't know that I would want to carry this extra thing- and it's not small, like it would take up a portion of a suitcase, and then spend the 5-10 mins setting it up to just avoid the cobble stones or whatever. If I were a delivery guy deliverying boxes, or a mover, I'd be all about this. I'm sure I'll use this at some point in my life, I just don't know that I'd want to carry more weight on an international flight just to avoid the 15-20 minutes of cobblestones/stairs.
