I live this design, because it easily forms to various sizes of couch arms. Our couch has very wide arms and I was worried it may not be a great fit, but it’s perfect! My husband always rests his drinks in the arm and then they get knocked over, so this is a great solution for holding his cups and keeping our remote in the same spot every time! The finish of the wood is pretty and soft. It seems like it will hold up well against spills and scratches. It seems to be well constructed and there are no splinters or noticeable flaws. This is a great deal and functional since we don’t have a coffee table!

I like the light weight bamboo more than plastic and the thing has a gripper material on the bottom to prevent shifting. When you don't have a table you don't really have a lot of options but this adds useful space. No installation required, it just sits on the arm.I also found it handy to store near the coffee maker when I'm not using it so stuff stays organized. It will lie flat if you need it to.

This sofa-arm tray is well designed, using good quality bamboo, and professionally finished. The underside is lined with a thick, high-grip backing and the sides are heavy enough to balance and anchor it in place. I had worried this type of tray might not be steady, but I can confidently put a drink or a messy snack down on it without wobbling. It’s got enough weight to help it hang securely over the armrest, but it is light enough to easily move it around when needed.The width of the flat center is a perfect fit for our normal sized couch, and the design allows it to adjust for different armrest sizes. That brings us to its length. On the one hand, it’s not too long to sit on our armrest. On the other, it’s long enough that if you like using the armrest to actually rest your arm, you’re probably going to wind up with your hand sitting on the tray, or turning your armrest into more of an elbow rest. This isn’t a problem for me, but your individual mileage may vary.The top part of the tray, as described in the listing, is removable. Essentially it slides like a drawer until you extend it far enough to take it off entirely. By sliding it only partway, you can also expand the tray to fit more items, albeit with an eye on not overbalancing the less supported part. I doubt I’ll be removing the top tray very often, as the whole reason for getting this in the first place was a lack of convenient surfaces to put things down.At first I didn’t see much point to the notches in the square portion of the tray that seems best designed for drinks. Then I put down a coffee mug, and all became clear. These notches accommodate handles very nicely. There’s also a pair of angled notches to accommodate a cell phone, but while these work fine for storage, don’t expect to use this setup to watch videos, read, or type. Your phone will be a little too close and a little too far to the side for that to be comfortable. The only way for me to get the phone to a comfortable angle was to push the whole tray forward, so that the front of the tray is hanging off the front of the armrest, at the cost of stability. If you have a sofa with a deeper seat and a longer armrest, or if you’re slightly near-sighted you may be perfectly happy with this feature (my wife likes it just fine).We’re happy with the overall shape and appearance of the tray. Its structure is completely true to the photos in the listing, and looks as well-made as it feels. My wife thinks the color is a little brighter and a slightly more orange than the photos online. Perfectly normal bamboo color, and online pictures can’t always capture color 100%.I keep catching my wife staring at it thoughtfully, and I know one day I’ll come home and she’ll have painted or refinished it to better blend with our furniture.Overall, this little tray is exactly what we needed, with quality materials and thoughtful construction, a couple of extra features that were a nice bonus.

Nice little tray, and adjustable enough to fit over either a squared or rounded arm. Literally all you do is set it on the arm... there is a grippy surface on the bottom that keeps it on the arm easily. I can only speak to cloth as I don't have any leather furniture, but I would imagine it would do well on leather also. The reason for the 4 stars is that the tray is very small and narrow. We were hoping to use it as a tray for when we eat on the couch, but it's far too small for that. Still, for snacks and remotes, it works well!

Got this for my husband who puts the remote controls, his phone, etc on the couch arm all the time and then gets upset when something falls and "disappears." I thought it worked very well, but my husband insists he now has no arm rest and doesn't like the hard wood on the couch arm. I relocated this little contraction to the couch in our other room because he kept putting it on the floor so he could use the arm rest.So.... the bottom line is that this works great to corral all your stuff, but if you actually want to USE your arm rest, this would not be the best item for you.
