This embossing design is very pretty but I just can’t get it to work. They recommend heavy cardstock, which I tried, but the design just won’t imprint fully. I do not have an embossing machine- I use a rolling pin, so maybe that’s the catch, but I don’t really think that’s the problem. The mold is a little warped but still closes fully. I tried cardstock, construction paper, and regular paper, and nothing works. I tried pressing by hand, hardcore rolling pin rolling, even standing on it to press the design in. No luck. I eventually gave up and I think I’ll just use one side or the other to press into clay.

The floral design is very pretty - BUT it will not emboss properly on paper. I have tried with both regular 20lb printer paper as well as on Strathmore 25lb tracing vellum paper, but cannot get the pattern is impress with details. Plus on the tracing paper, it tore through making small holes around some of the flower petals. If I go with thinner paper, I think it will tear even more so. If I go with thicker paper, I doubt it will make much of an impression at all.I do not think you should need to have an embossing machine for this to work. I have another embossing plate similar to this one, but where the plastic plates are much thinner, and that one worked great just using the back of a kitchen spoon. For this, I was using a brayer roller with a lot of downward pressure, which should have been just as good if not better than my other method. For embossing on paper, I do not recommend this! But perhaps I can separate the two plates and use them for embossing clay or something more malleable.
