This pad for an Olympic Barbell is top notch. It fits my bar well, having to my it open a bit to fit on. Once fully on, it sits well, but can be rotated around by hand if needed to reposition. The pad itself is a firm, supportive rubberized material. This is not soft squishy foam. But that's prefect because this is designed to lend support and comfort when using heavy weight like in a back squat or hip thrust. There are no straps or anything to cinch it shut, but it does not need them, as it takes a little prying to them take it off the bar. Straps would honestly be uncomfortable, so I'm glad it doesn't rely on them. I'm super happy with this, and my lower neck/upper spine is too. If I had one complaint, its that I do wish it had a sleeve to keep it from getting dirty and to hang it up around my basement gym. Even a small tab at one end to use for hanging would be great. It's a small thing and doesn't detract, however. I would absolutely recommend!

As someone who is middle aged and just really getting serious about body building, one of my primary goals is to not get injured. To that end, I am currently only putting up 90 lbs for 3 sets of 15 with my smith machine for deep squats, as the final of 3 exercise I conduct on leg day. I do not like the feel of the bar without the pad on my shoulders/spine and as I continue to move up in weight I wanted to have something to further protect my spine without needing to only use my hacksquat/leg press machine for legs. I did get a foam version of this which costs significantly less. It did the job but my wife completely refused to use it since it applies pressure on the neck differently than a bar making her feel like it was cutting of blood flow. I got this one since it is smaller and even I noticed it sits better than the foam one with less pressure on the veins in the back of the neck. My wife turns the pad to have the open end toward her to further reduce that discomfort. The pad fits firmly on the bar with no sliding. Proper positioning on the bar needs to be done during placement since it does not slide after it is on the bar. The pad is a dense material so it sits firmly on the shoulders and does not shift under the weight of the bar. As compared to other options on the market I think it is priced correctly. I would recommend this product to others who are looking to limit spinal pressure doing squats with a bar.
