I have a bunch of different .22 pellets from this company. No matter the style or weight, they all shoot well, despite the but ends not all being perfectly round. Sometimes they require a little more force to load them into my magazine due to the slightly deformed but ends. Not all of them are like this. I say roughly 1 out of every 10 is slightly misshaped. The slight misshaped doesn't seem to have any effect on accuracy. I'm able to get nice tight groupings pretty much every time. All-in-all, I like shooting this brand.

Sometimes pellets are not very uniform in their size and have bad QC. Not the case with this set. It is great. I weighted several of the pellets and they all weighed the same amount and theyβre all very nicely cast. Great purchase for an air gun.

All in all these are good pellets for poking holes into cans or targets, if you're less concerned with accuracy and more concerned with just burning time shooting stuff. Despite the foam disc that protected them from the lid I did notice that some of them had skirts that were slightly deformed. Overall I did notice that these pellets were noticeably dirtier than other pellets from other makers but they still shot fine enough for me.14.5 grains is on the lighter end as pellets go, but it's a perfect weight for lower powered spring/pump airguns like the ever popular Crossman 1322.

Like the other .177 and .22 pellets from Barra that I've ordered, these were packaged fairly well with a single foam disc inserted in the top of the tin to help protect the pellets from being damaged in transit. There was no foam disc on the bottom, but I suppose it's the thought that counts?Either way, despite the decent packaging, it doesn't particularly matter how well these are packaged if the pellets are poorly made in the first place. Loads of lead shavings in this tin, no different from the other tins of Barra pellets. Some fit snugly in the breech and others sort of "fell" in. Crosman Premieres can be bought at Walmart for less than half the price of these for twice as many with a better fit and finish. These did perform fairly well out of my tuned Hatsan 95, but certainly no better than H&N FTTs in 5.54 (which cost less again) or RWS Superdomes (which cost a dollar more, but perform vastly better). These might actually be phenomenal pellets if they were machined with tighter tolerances and cleaned up before packaging.

At this price Iβd expect at least a rinsing of the pellets before packaging but no, these are as dirty and sloppy as they come. Lucky the skirts were in pretty good shape though the tin was full of lead curly-qβs which normally would have easily rinsed off but these werenβt rinsed.I ended up washing these off and cleaned and dried them properly. After all that it is safe to say that these are good for plinking only as they are not very consistent.I have 2 Barra airguns and they are awesome. Too bad I canβt say the same for their new line of pellets. They need to drop the price of these to reflect the quality. Crossman pellets are cheaper and perform better and thatβs not saying a whole lot because Crossman is not a superior pellet either.

Barra is a new brand of Chinese made airguns and pellets with a wide range of guns, and a growing range of pellets. Most of the pellets I see listed at Amazon are heavy or very heavy, suggesting that theyβre intended for PCP guns. I chose the 14.5 grain pellets in .22 for evaluation as theyβre very close in weight to my favorite Crosman .22 Premiers, which shoot very well in my original Diana 34. They donβt look like the premiers, however; theyβre shorter and stubbier, and remind me of old Milbro pellets from the 1960s. A shorter pellet is easier to stabilize, but has higher drag than a longer pellet, all other things being equal.First inspection reveals a pellet with a smooth head and skirt, and only a faint mold line. I couldnβt see any pits or roughness, which suggests these were made in new, well-finished dies- not surprising in a new product. Itβll be interesting to see if they maintain this quality with volume production. Some makers run dies until theyβre ragged, and at least one pellet maker reuses their best target pellet dies in successively cheaper pellet lines as they wear.Loading these in my Diana 34 I was disappointed to see that they dropped right into the barrel with no resistance. It may be that theyβre undersized for the 34 barrel, or that theyβre a little to short to engage the rifling. A slight amount of finger pressure did result is some resistance, suggesting that pellet length is the cause. I was curious how this would affect accuracy.Itβs been cold and rainy around here, so I restricted my testing to my basement 10 meter range, which is used for target air pistol practice and initial sight in of rifles. Itβs long enough to give a general idea of what a gun is capable of. In this case, the Barra pellets produced 0.25 to 0.3β 5 shot groups, which works out to roughly 2.5 to 3 minutes of angle. Not outstanding, but certainly not bad; they might do better in guns with a shorter unrifled section of barrel or those with a tighter bore. Theyβre certainly cheap enough that theyβre worth testing.

As you can see from my group, they shoot straight! That's 8 shots from 21 feet out of my Benjamin Marauder pistol. These load easily, with very little effort required to close the bolt. So, full disclosure, that ain't 50 yards and I was shooting off a tripod and the guns has a 9X UTG rifle scope, but still, that's my best group yet. I say almost perfect because they shipped in a padded envelope which got them pretty beat up. Tins had multiple dents which made them hard to open. I'd say probably 25% of them had less than perfect skirts. Still though, I shot them unsorted, ain't got time to sort. I'd bet damage would have been worse if not for the foam in the tins. So even as is, these performed great!
