Perfect knitting accessory. It is easy to swap out yarns and the magnetic quality is cool. Easy to move wherever you are working.

Unit is 12" tall. The base has a 7" diameter. The rod is a 5/8" dowel, 9-1/2" long.It takes just two screws - included with a Philips-head screwdriver. Two minutes and your done. The pic with the yarn - not quite 100 grams on the ball, fingering weight. The dowel is topped with a metal plug - see the pic with it isolated.Yeah, it pulled right out when removing the dowel from the magnet embedded in the arch. I reset the plug - did the same thing two more times. A flashlight into the hole and inspecting the plug suggests to me that it was a manufacturing oversight ... the plug was put in without any adhesive. Happens. Not taking off a star for a simple mistake. I coated it with Gorilla glue, curing now. I'm sure it's fixed.Overall, good concept. Easy to load your yarn ball. Won't work with a center pull, of course.

This is an amazing yarn holder, and the price is fantastic for the quality. Most important, it works like a dream. Even my larger yarn skeins fit easily, and unwind with the perfect amount of tension. I honestly don't know why I waited so long! It's easy to change the yarn from the spindle, and the magnet is super secure. It arrives flat packed, and comes with a decent Philips head screwdriver to assemble. It was quick and easy to put together, I did it myself in only a few minutes! It looks really nice, the wood and finish is even and sleek.

I ordered this yarn holder for my sister, who crochets as a side gig and had been wanting one of these. According to her, this was easy to assemble based on the included instructions. It is well made and includes important features such as non-slip feet for the bottom. The magnet is quite strong. She was initially concerned because sometimes the yarn holder would start spinning and not stop, just getting faster and faster. She eventually realized that this only happened when the yarn holder was sitting too far away from her; if she kept it close, this issue did not occur. She has already found this product to be quite useful.

I was a little skeptical of this yarn holder at first, but once I tried it out I can say I'm a big fan! The entire unit is very attractive and holds my yarn while still being able to spin just the right amount when I tug gently on it while crocheting. If you want to change projects, it's super easy to remove the magnetic spindle and swap out your yarn.If you are winding your own yarn cakes, I would suggest winding slowly/with less tension so the inner core of your cake is loose, it fit onto the spindle more easily. You'll have a hard time fitting a tightly wound cake onto it! For your standard big box craft store yarn balls, just feel your way through the center and slide it onto the spindle. This kit comes with everything you need to put it together- screws, a screwdriver, and a set of four silicone feet to attach to the bottom of the base.I have a 4 oz ball on in the photo, but it can hold an 8 oz cake with ease!

The base stays in place and doesn't wobble around while I work, and the magnetized part spins very easily. It also looks so nice in this wood color!
