This adapter is a useful tool for connecting power from a Ryobi 18V battery to various DIY projects. The integrated switch is a nice touch, and the connector fits well. However, it lacks a fuse, which would be a valuable safety addition. Despite that, the fit and functionality are solid. I recommend it!

This is a good adapter. But there is a similar brand that comes in a 2-pack with heavier-gauge wire for the same price. So I would get the 2-pack instead of this one. But this one definitely works. You obviously don't have to use it for "power wheels" - you can use it for any project that needs 18 VDC, and use your Ryobi batteries to power it.

The SZCBDS Battery Adapter is designed to let you use Ryobi 18V batteries to power DIY projects like RC cars and ride-on trucks. It features built-in short-circuit and low-voltage protection, aiming to safeguard both your battery and devices. The 16AWG wire ensures efficient power transfer, which is crucial for high-draw projects. Before integrating this adapter into your projects, ensure that the connected devices are compatible and do not exceed the adapter's recommended power specifications. Always be careful!

I have a mobile Digital Mobile Radio setup that is made up of a Raspberry Pi "PiStar" node and a Wifi travel router. They are powered by a DC to USB Power Converter. While I do have a plug in power supply and a Li phosphate battery for mobile use, I wanted the option to use my Ryobi batteries to power the converter. The Ryobi battery adapter came with the adapter and a wire power wheels connector along with a usb "light" as a gift. I didn't know what the light was and so I asked the vendor who quickly responded to me. The original description listed the wires as 20 AWG which has since been changed to 16 AWG. The crimp connectors that I used for the Anderson Power pole clone connectors was for the 20-16 AWG wire. The description says that the unit can put out 60A but 16 AWG wire has a max rating of 18 A. A fuse might be a good idea since pulling 60A is not a good idea. I like the on/off switch which feels solid. (Again, the switch and PCB need to be rated for the stated current of the device) The stock Ryobi battery snaps in and out quite handily.

This Ryobi battery adapter was interesting because it's not just wires connected to terminals. There is a circuit board that provides short circuit and low voltage protection to the battery. This could be valuable for generic or clone batteries that may not offer those features like OEM Ryobi batteries do. The on/off switch is helpful. One reviewer already mentioned the potentially undersized wires compared to the listing specifications. I opened up the device and took some photos of the inside. The soldering is typical. The manufacturer found creative way to solder switch contacts to the circuit board. The positive wire had significant melted insulation and doesn't look as clean as the black wire does. This device is probably fine for lighter use but the wire gauge issue should be clarified and it seems an external replaceable fuse would be welcome even with PCB protection inside.

This Ryobi 18V Li Ion battery adapter from seller SZCBDS makes an excellent interface for my MakerHawk Battery 180W Load Tester that I use for measuring the actual capacity in amps of all the batteries I have - both OEM and non-OEM. Without a capacity testers it is almost impossible to accurately measure the actual amperage of lithium batteries.I have used various battery adapters for my other style batteries including Milwaukee, Makita and DeWalt, but I have not been able to measure Ryobi-style batteries until now.Compared to the other batter adapters I have, this Ryobi-style adapter is one of the best fitting (easy on-and-off) units of them all. The on/off switch is very handy as you can set up the battery tester for a capacity run, then switch the battery on, and it runs until the battery hits the cutoff voltage you set.All I had to do to use this adapter is crimp on some spade connectors to attach to the MakerHawk tester.I am glad this adapter works so well.

This battery adapter fits my Ryobi 18V Li batteries without issues. The adapter also has a built-in battery protection PCB, which seems redundant since Ryobi batteries have this protection built-in internally. Most battery adapters of this type are just straight wired to the battery terminals. The biggest issue is the output wires being undersized. The output wires are labeled as being 1.5mm2 on the wire insulation (see photos), which is 16-gauge AWG, not 12-gauge, as stated in the listing. The listing overstates the output wire size by a considerable margin. If the wire were 12-gauge the wire cross-sectional area would be 4mm2.
