I got this last night for my D7100, over all quality shocked me. Absolutely no glue run over, and good feel. My only concerns are there's more of a grey color and doesn't exactly match my nikon, it bothers me but that's me, it doesn't match the contour of the camera body 100% but its really close. And lastly gripping the right side of the camera and the grip feels loose even though its not. (very little play) There is a really small gap between the camera and the grip and seems they don't mate well. I shoot with a speed sling and a tripod alot and it worries me that it has that little play on the right side. But i would recommend this to those that cant or doesn't want to pay the 200 hundred plus for a nikon one. By the way, you can use a battery in your camera body and the grip to double power but i wouldn't risk taking the grip on and off all the time to charge the battery in the body. I just use 1 battery (only holds one) in the grip and when my power gets low, pop in a fresh battery into the grip. yes the 1 battery in the grip powers the body and grip.as far as the buttons and command dials, everything works great and does there job. they do have that plastic feeling but so does the camera. As far as the batteries, they charged right up in a after market charger i got to go with this, and i verified everything against my nikon chargerand they are fully charged and holding. My D7100 recognized them and runs perfectly on them.As far as the screen protector, my package didn't come with one. so i cant say anything about that but from what i understand it was crap anyway. All and all its worth the purchase, my d7100 looks like a d4 now.

bad, don't fit well, has a gap very chip, to bad that Nikon resorts to make products in China.

This grip is fantastic! I got this for my D7100 a few months ago and have gotten a chance to really see how well it performs. I will break this review up into different categories, so here we go.Construction:The build on this grip is excellent. It's got the same kind of expensive and professional feel that the camera itself has, and it seems to blend perfectly into it. The rubber grip on the front of it is the exact same material on the hand grip on the camera body, so it's nice to have some continuity. The battery grip IS plastic, however they have put a great deal of effort into getting the plastic look exactly like the metal on the camera. Personally, I think it was a wise choice to use plastic instead of metal so as to cut back on the overall weight of the system. The camera is already pretty hefty, but with the grip and an extra battery installed, it's definitely noticeable in your hands. If it were metal, it would obviously be even heavier and possibly less comfortable. The hand grip on the bottom part of the unit (used when shooting in vertical) is superb. It's actually a lot more comfortable than the grip on the camera, probably due to the fact that the grip is a bit wider and gives more area to grab onto. When I'm just carrying the camera around, I tend to carry it by the battery grip because it's more enjoyable.Button functionality:The grip comes complete with a double press shutter release, a button lock around the shutter release (this is the camera power switch on the body), two rotating dials, one in front and back, AE-L/AF-L, and a four-way button. They are all positioned exactly the same way as if you were shooting landscape mode, so you don't need to be thinking "now where is that button again?" It's very nice and convenient. Not much more to say about this because they really hit the nail on the head with this one.Overall functionality:The extra battery definitely helps a lot. It has allowed me to go 1.5 to even 2 days without needing to replace them. This is with taking around 400-500 shots a day. People say that using a battery grip gives you more stability because it somehow does some voodoo magic to the camera's center of gravity (well, I shouldn't say voodoo magic because it really does change the center of gravity haha), but I really don't see it. I think if anything, the extra weight kind of dampens the little movements in your hands, but that's about it. I wouldn't count on this giving you an extra stop or two of shutter speed because it really makes no difference. Some battery grips actually allow you to put TWO batteries inside them, but since you already have one in the camera body, I suppose having three would be absolute overkill.Other reviewers have mentioned the batteries included with this to be crap. I haven't experienced this, and I'm still using them with my camera along with 4 other Wasabi batteries I bought (which are excellent by the way). I can't say much in the way of life expectancy but so far they are working good.If you have any more questions, just post a comment below.

The grip works great (the one I received is a Vivitar VIV-PG-D7100, available individually on Amazon for around $50), I use it on my D7100 all the time, and I've had no problems with it at all. The included AA carrier is a nice bonus I wasn't expecting, and works equally well (camera even detects the carrier as having AA batteries instead of Li-Ions).The batteries, however, are not so good. One works ok, but doesn't hold nearly the same charge as my Nikon batteries do, and the other no longer takes a charge. I'd strongly recommend getting official Nikon batteries instead of the third-parties, at least then you have some warranty options. The batteries have absolutely no manufacturer info on them, so I'm not sure who to even contact about them. The screen protectors are generic cut to fit, and were difficult to install, and seemed pretty flimsy. I guess they'd protect against minor scratches, but anything more then that and they'd be pretty ineffective.I'd strongly recommend purchasing the grip separately, and buying real Nikon batteries, or at least batteries from a known manufacturer over this kit.

Great product, This product is a first for me in my personal equipment. I have used Grips before and Knew I needed one, but It was not my equipment so I had never put it together or on the camera before. The grip came with 2 types of Battery Units in addition to the 2 batters, which I was not expecting. the first holds a reg EN-EL15 Battery (which 2 are included, so you have one to use, and one as a backup, Perfect!) But it also included a AA battery unit so that if for some reason your EN-EL15 Battery Fails, you can pop in Reg. Double AA Batteries and keep shooting. I Cant remember or see that it showcases this, but I am Very Happy that it is there as a backup to a backup, etc.Only thing I wish I could add to this is a Battery Charger. I love everything about it, and plan on buying a 2nd for my backup Camera. Although there is no Battery Charger, I always have the one that came with my camera. If you have any kind of DSLR, dose not matter the brand, or anything. Get a Grip! LOL you wont regret it.
