The moisture detector does not work. As per the instructions, when placed against wood or wall, there is no response, despite the display indicating 0% moisture.

I had a water issue in my basement (in a corner, from the wall) and part of my cement floor was wet. I dried it for weeks and put the flooring back down. I'm now suspicious every time it rains and this at least gives me an idea of how wet it might be under the flooring. It's easy to use, easy to see the face of it. It's maybe not quite as accurate as the $$$ meter the waterproofer guy used, but it does give me an idea and some peace of mind.

Well made. Seems to be accurate, as repeated tests show same results, and are within a tight range of a professional wood moisture tester. Useful to know the readings at different places in a crawl space. High reading can point to a hidden source of moisture, such as behind insulation or below a sometimes dripping duct. Can provide early detection of mold or fungus creating conditions, so the condition can be mitigated.

J’ai acheté ce détecteur d’humidité Brennenstuhl lors des travaux de rénovation de ma cuisine. Les panneaux de placo étaient noircis par l’humidité en partie basse, et je souhaitais en connaître l’origine. Après démolition des cloisons (qui étaient collées au mur à la PU) et évacuation des gravats, je suis tombé sur un mur mitoyen en pierre.J’ai donc utilisé le détecteur Brennenstuhl pour tester l’humidité. Sur l’appareil, il y a deux pointes qui servent à piquer le mur. Il faut également spécifier le type de matériau sondé (bois ou brique/parpaing) puis on analyse le résultat. J’ai ainsi relevé des taux d’humidité supérieurs à 16% à certains endroits. Je n’ai pas pu comparer les résultats à ceux d’un autre détecteur, mais les chiffres obtenus me paraissent fiables et cohérents par rapport à ce que je constate au toucher.Au final, la solution a été de monter une nouvelle cloison sur rail. Le mur en pierre respire, il y a une lame d’air puis une isolation à la laine de roche.Ce détecteur d’humidité Brennenstuhl m’a donc été particulièrement utile, et je continue à m’en servir ponctuellement lorsque je soupçonne des problèmes d’humidité dans une pièce. L’autonomie de la pile 9V est excellente, l’appareil est facile d’utilisation, abordable (payé 24 euros) et les résultats sont fiables.Je le recommande sans hésiter.Climaxe

This detector is so easy to use. You just insert into the wall for seconds, then it will beep, with the number shown on screen, which is also easy to read. Hope the two needles could be bit longer so the accuracy should be improved more to my private opinion.

It took me a while never having used one, to get my head around understanding the measurements. It is mostly a comparison tool. To my thinking it appears pretty accurate. Again, this tool is new to me.The waisted yellow hand/finger grips are purely aesthetic, in fact I think they are detrimental to it's use. When you hold it and use it down low the screen is at an oblique angle, so you can't read it unless you use the Hold function.
