I have fried a few turkeys and a fish fry and it worked perfectly. The thermometer was off by a little but not enough to cause a bad outcome.

Has everything you need to fry a turkey excepting the burner. Make sure you have a powerful enough burner to keep the oil hot while the bird is cooking. Side bonus is that you can brine the turkey in the pot and the whole thing fits in my bar fridge.

Just what we needed. I bought it for Christmas for my husband who loves to deep fry his turkey and other things. We needed the replacement pot for our old fryer, so I got this one, as the value for the money was just right. Works just fine with the burner we have. The only thing, as people order many things around the holidays, I identified it as a “gift”, and it did not allow for that selection. So when the box arrived at the house, it was the original box (not inside another box), and my husband received the package at the door. Bummer. There goes the element of surprise for Christmas. 🙄 So in the rating review part it asks if it’s “giftable”: it is, if you’re sending it to someone that doesn’t know they’re getting it, and you don’t need it wrapped. For me that obviously didn’t work. LOL!But this was a “useful” gift, so I’m happy with it.Because it’s a deep pot, you do have to empty out the oil each time you use it, and if you’re planning to reuse the oil, strain it like you normally do any fryer oil (we don’t use oil more than 3 times anyway for obvious health reasons, depending on what you fry with it too). But then you have to scrub and reach inside, so if you’re short or have short arms, or if your sink is small, that might be a problem. I use my laundry’s sink in the garage, so that’s easy peasy, as it’s a big pot. It’s aluminum, so I would not put it in the dishwasher, even if it fit, but that’s up to you. You can use a bit of baking soda with dish soapy, a scrubby sponge, and elbow grease to get stuck on grease and particles, on inside and out of it. Worked well for me.

This pot is fantastic! Perfect for frying a turkey. Simple instructions, v safe. Definitely has cheered up Christmas 2020. Did a trial run on Thanksgiving and it was the best turkey ever. Will never today a turkey again!

Of course you will need the burner, don't try this on your stove. Works great so does thermometer. All pots when on a burner get black soot on the bottom real dirty job to clean. Heard that dish washing liquid rubbed on the outside of the pot helps when it comes to clean up. Tried it and it seemed to help. Also great for corn roasts and lobster.

It worked amazingly well for deep frying a 15lb turkey! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The only issue is it took forever to clean afterwards. But still well worth it.

Yep, did it last Thanksgiving and a few times since then. I'd say it's a little smaller than I'd like for a larger bird, but that's highly variable. Works well!Edit: 2019 - Did it again this year, but this time did it with the breast minus drumsticks. Worked well but two things to know. The time to weight is off, I needed around 6 minutes per pound to get the breast cooked through. Second, the breast only birds are cut open on one side. I used a metal skewer to make sure it didn't slide off the stand. With those two changes it worked fine.Edit 2/3: Nothing to change the review, other than to say if you end up with two (like I did) you won't be able to nest them. Might be obvious to some, but wasn't to me. Doesn't change the fact that it works well, but more space needed for storage...

I love this "little" pot. "Little" is relative though because I had a huge pot that took 5 gallons of oil to fry a turkey and the whole process was a mess. This is perfect, 3 gallons of oil (which is the size most commonly sold in my area), 20 pound turkey, and in less than 3 hours I have perfect juicy turkey. (about 3 hours is the oil heat time and cook time combined depending on turkey size).Pros:Size: 16 inches to the rim and 13.5 inches diameterTall (necessary for bubbling oil - I love this feature)Big (I fit a 22 pound turkey. Any bigger is a fire hazard because the sides of the turkey will touch the sides of the pot and could cause the oil to overflow. But it could potentially fit a 25 pound if you live dangerously).Max fill line on the side of the pot (3 gallons of oil is barely an inch below this line - convenient for gauging how much oil you need)Cons: None so far with 3 uses

Pot: Aluminum, not too heavy, heats up relatively quickly, strong handles, cleans up wellTurkey Holder (disc-thing with loop) and hook: Aluminum, relatively light but strong enough to hold a turkey, the holes tend to get gross after a frying so clean well, SO glad the hook comes with it since that makes it possible for me to slowly lower the turkey in by hand (well, by oven-mitt)Thermometer: Crap. Throw this away, it's not properly calibrated and will cause you issues. Buy a better quality one, or one with a warranty. I use a candy thermometer with a clip. (If you insist on using this, check the calibration first and mark down how off it truly is.)Injector: I've never used this and never will. Gave it to my nephew for his doctor playset. We've used this for frying turkeys and to boil deer skulls for decorations. The turkeys have turned out delicious, and the skulls have turned out very well. It's cleaned up surprisingly well for how messy the projects have turned out to be, but I recommend drying this well before storage. It's big enough that it could probably be used for canning.

I used this pot to fry a 13.5 lb. turkey for Thanksgiving and I have to say that this was about the best it gets. Used peanut oil blend and the butterball seasoning kit that comes with the injected seasoning and sprinkled cajun seasoning. Everyone loved it and I was very impressed with how easy it was to do everything. Just follow the directions and be sure to lower the turkey slowly into the oil when it reaches the specified 325-350 temp. Don't allow the temp to go any higher. It took about 45-50 minutes to fry the bird up and it really came out very tasty and juicy. Clean-up was pretty easy too. Enjoyed the turkey leftovers more than ever before too.... lol. Can you say trytophan overdose? I would definately say this is worth the money.. although after seeing the same deal that comes with the chicken skewers for about $8 more I wish I woulda seen that and went there instead... the skewers are gonna cost me more than that because of the shipping now... darn!! The biggest turkey you can do in this pot is an 18 pounder so if you wanna do a bigger one than that, go with the next size up. Took about 3 gals. of oil to do the 13.5 pounder and it was just right. That is the size oil container they sell for turkey fryers at most places. Peanut oil is reusable for up to about a year so don't throw it away when you are done. Strain it and save it in a dark cool place. Just smell it to see if it still smells ok when you are ready to fry up the next bird or whatever other critter strikes your fancy.
