I wanted to try a kneeling meditation bench since the sitting meditation I was practicing put too much pressure on the soles of my feet. I didn't want to spend too much money trying something new and I didn't need anything fancy. This bench fit the bill. The bamboo construction is thicker and sturdier than I expected. I was worried about the curved feet rocking too much, but once I'm situated, it doesn't rock unintentionally. Some reviews mentioned the bench collapsing in on itself since the hinges don't lock, but the bench I received actually had pretty stiff hinges. So, even though the hinges don't "lock" per se, once fully opened they don't move even if I pick the bench up and move it around. I think I'll just leave the bench open since I would rather the hinges not become too loose from opening/closing too much (portability is not my concern).I did have to look up how to use the bench, (kneel down on ground in front of bench, then slide bench forward over legs and under butt), and there was a learning curve for a few days, but now I'm comfortable enough using it without my legs or feet falling asleep for my usual 45 minute session. The posture the bench induces keeps my spine straight and supported for my full session without having to consciously maintain it (before, I would eventually slouch and have to re-straighten). Maybe one day I'll try a zabuton for cushioning, but for now an old yoga mat doubled over with a towel on it works well enough for my knee/foot comfort and prevents the bench legs from scraping the floor.Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase and get daily use from the bench so I feel like it was worth the $30.

I thought a cheap foldable meditation stool will be my ticket to meditation heaven, but the legs never stayed stable enough to be able to relax. Too bad.

I use it for my formal meditation sessions. It was absolutely worth the money. It's handy that you can fold it together, makes it relatively easy to carry along, or to store at home without taking up space. Seems sturdy enough, so far no issues.

Love it to meditate. Takes care of back position. No pain.

I'm 63 and have arthritis in both knees. During a flare-up bad enough to use a cane when walking, this great little bench allowed me to spend a couple hours meditating very comfortably. I was even able to stand up again easily and my condition was no worse than when I sat down. I was surprised that the legs are a bit rounded or curved, so the bench rocks slightly front to back. Thought this might create instability but it did not; it simply allowed for more adjustment for comfort. It folds very flat and is easy to carry in a shoulder bag type purse. Weights so little that I carry it easily, even at a time when carrying weight is a unwise idea. Great, great little bench. Just have to figure out what to name it...I know it's a friend so....

The craftsmanship is beautiful- it came right away my only complaint is that I did not realize the bottom was rounded and I would need a mat of some sort under it to stop it from sliding. .... FYI a pillow did the trick. Love it. 10/10

This is a nice quality bench. However you have to fuss with the folding legs each time you get on it to ensure they are open all the way and stable. This is cumbersome so I plant to put glue under the bench at the hinges so it can stay solidly open all the time. The manufacturer should have considered to include some method to lock the bench in open position.Editing this to add a detail I forgot with the initial review. I'm almost 5ft 6 inches tall so this was comfortable but i felt like i needed a tad/maybe another inch or so height for the best comfort. I purchased materials (bag and buckwheat hulls) to make a cushion to go on top and that worked perfectly. I can adjust the cushion height by altering how much filling or not use it at all, which i like. The curved bottom feet of the bench allow you to adjust height by rocking the bench to the desired position but I needed just a tad bit more height.

I'm really not clear what the negative reviews expected when ordering this bench. My bench resembles the one pictured quite precisely (I did not order the one with the cushion). I'm still figuring out the best posture for myself when sitting on this bench - I generally prefer half-lotus, but kneeling seems to be more accessible based on the bench's height. The hinges are firmly installed, and the bench becomes quite compact when in the collapsed position. When unfolded, the bench is sufficiently stable and gives me the support I need to have a comfortable meditation session. To give an idea of the bench's size, my roommate thought that this bench was a keyboard stand for when one is sitting in bed (the bench would go over your legs). If I wanted a bench to get cozy on, I'd order a la-z-boy. It's meant for upright posture directly on top of the bench. If you're not sitting as such, yes, the bench isn't going to work for you, and you will probably feel it's trying to slip out from under you or feel it wobble to the left or the right. Sitting upright, it is stable, safe, and supportive.

I like this style of meditation posture but this bamboo bench was assembled improperly before it was shipped. The screw hinges were not seated properly and some of screw heads were stripped. These loose wood screws caused the metal hinge to bend and flex underweight. After only about a dozen uses the the flexing of the hinge caused the screws pop out completely while I was seated on the stool. I am 170 pounds. My weight came crashing down onto my ankles. it was painful. I purchased some longer would screws from a hardware store and fix the stool myself. I continue to use the stool now and it works properly with the right screws firmly seated into the hinge and wood base. Next time I would probably purchase a meditation pillow.

The day it arrived I was struck by how small, and how low to the ground it was. Still, I placed it on the floor, and attempted to sit on it. It collapsed under my weight immediately. If this is the "deluxe" version, I'd hate to see the standard version. I'm not sure what the use case might be for the this bench but it most certainly is not appropriate for Yoga or Meditation. Buyer Beware.Further, Amazon should review this seller.
