2003 Nissan Xterra 2.4L Manual Transmission--For my application, this fan clutch is an awesome upgrade here in the hot U.S. desert Southwest because it does not spin as freely in hot weather city driving as does a new OEM or a new aftermarket fan clutch on my Xterra. My ac is colder and my engine temp lower. Also desirable to me is that this part is made in Japan not made in China or Mexico. The most significant improvement to drivability is that this fan clutch increased my air conditioner's efficiency. The ac output at the vents is now much colder because this Beck Arnley made in Japan fan clutch does not spin freely in city driving. It is indeed "stiff" as one review mentions. So, yes, as a result, the fan blade noise is definitely louder than with the worn out fan clutch it replaced that was not "stiff". Two reviews here on Amazon complain that this fan clutch creates fan noise. True. It does. One states, "Too stiff...sounded like I was driving an airplane with a propeller in front..." (E. Alsop, 6/22/2013). Another states, "The fan is so loud!" (shopper 101, 5/16/2021). Please know that I am grateful for these two negative reviews. Both helped me identify the best fan clutch choice here in the U.S. desert Southwest.A "stiff" fan clutch with noticeable fan noise is a positive review in my opinion. While the louder fan blade noise may be a complaint to others, the fan blade noise to my ears is a compliment. The noise is evidence that this fan clutch is pulling a much larger volume of air across the both the condenser and the radiator at low driving speeds than did the old worn out fan clutch it replaced. Louder fan noise in this application on my Xterra here in the hot U.S. desert Southwest also means that my ac output temperature at each vent is now colder during hot weather, stop-and-go city driving after installation. And, the indicated engine operating temperature on the temp gauge after installation is now lower during hot weather, stop-and-go city driving with this fan clutch. Another "gift with purchase". It is March and already 88 degrees in the afternoon.More good news to report. This part is a perfect fit to my new Nissan OEM fan blade--please see photo. It is also a perfect fit to my new Nissan OEM water pump--please see photo. Have you thought about how this fan clutch would be a good choice if one used this vehicle for towing? Anyway. For over 20 years, Beck Arnley parts have been an excellent choice for me. And, I am very happy that I bought this Beck Arnley fan clutch on Amazon. Today's local O'Rielly Auto Parts price for the same one is 50% higher @$87.99.

my original fan clutch worked okay, only replaced it because I I needed a water pump. I bought one of these from RockAuto for my 2002 frontier and was really disappointed. The fan never disengages. The fan is so loud! Made in Japan and from Beck Arnley so I figured it was good. Anyways just posting this here in case you're considering buying this. Wound up using a GMB brand instead.

I purchase 2 by mistake, would like to return one of them. Did not realize it until later on, and couldn’t stop the order.

This fan clutch was much stiffer than the OEM one I removed from my Frontier. This fan clutch did not loosen once I started driving so it sounded like I was driving an airplane with a propeller in front. Item was returned.
