2001 VW ALH TDI here with 215k miles 5-speed manual . Replaced original clutch and thought it would a fine idea to also replace clutch slave cylinder in the name of “smart” prevention maintenance.I couldn’t be more wrong. My part was defective with POOR workmanship and zero quality. Total crap. A pinhole in the rubber bellow created multiple dangerous driver situations. Less than 6 days installed in car.1) leak ruined my new clutch as it is now covered in brake fluid2) leak drained my brake (shared) reservoir, (lucky brakes didn’t fail, see #3)3) brakes didn’t fail because clutch failed first and nearly caused car accident in abrupt traffic breakdown. Air in the line due to pinhole. Car stuck in gear and pedal stuck to the floor.Do yourself a favor, do not buy. Spend the extra money on competitor’s product and save money, stress, and time. Looks like I will be replacing my clutch again due to pinhole. This product lacks quality control inspection at the factory. This part is a $1000 mistake. Good day.

Feels like a good quality part. My only gripe is that the bleeder valve is plastic and started to strip before I was done bleeding the system. If I have to bleed it again, it might strip entirely. Other than that a good part.

Installed because I put a new clutch in my tdi as preventative maintenance, not even a week later noticed a leak under my car and sure enough the slave cylinder was leaking on top of the transmission case and soaked the entire transmission in fluid. You would think that this is better because it's made of metal as opposed to the OEM plastic... WRONG. Not happy as I now have to spend more money and buy another one and swap it out.

Wasn't sure about it when I realized it was lightweight plastic. Ended up being great.

This is one of the only Metal replacement Slave Cylinders I have found for the Mk4 12v VR6 VW cars.Just installed today and it went in no problem. The only issue I real into that others have is that yes, The tip of the pushrod doesn't have the flat outer edge... But you don't need it... And that the clip has to be installed after you install your clutch hydraulic line.. Not hard to do, You just have to line it up and clip it..Once I got the old Slave cylinder off, Installing this new Metal slave and my new clutch line from ECS only took about ten minutes. My car now easily has the best Mk4 clutch pedal feel I have felt so far.Would absolutely buy again since its metal, I hope these ones are still being made because the Beck & Arnleys seem to be the only Metal replacements left.

The product first of all does not have the round head with the flat edges. No, it is simply a round almost fingerlike protrusion from the front of the cylinder. Second, it is not build the way your OEM cylinder is built. I tried to install the part and due to its lazy design, did not connect to the fluid line. If you look on the inside of the OEM cylinder, there are two cuts in the side so that when you push the fluid line into the cylinder, the metal clip can expand and then retract so it locks the cylinder in place. This part cannot lock the cylinder to the fluid line because there are no cuts for the clip to expand around the fluid line inside of the opening. Lazy/cheap, not what I expected from a so-called reputable dealer of OEM quality parts. Will not be buying from them again.
