We have an A4 for kept draining the battery. Eventually diagnosis led to this switch. It took less than 15 minutes to install and solved the battery problem. Now the car has working brake lights AND starts reliably.

Got the dreaded EPC light on my Audi Q7. Car would no longer automatically shift gears. Thought I was in deep doodoo and expected a very expensive transmission repair bill. Read online that the problem was a faulty brake switch of all things. Part was only $18 and had free Prime overnight shipping. Installed the part in less than 10 min and it fixed the car! I've rarely been this happy in my life!

When this part went bad, the car experienced below symptoms:-- the EPC warning light turned On (sometime the check engine light was also On)-- the gear kept in gear 1. was not shifted even though the RPM was at 4+k-- key cannot be pulled out even the gear shift was in "P"When this problem occurred I was 150 miles away from home. I managed to use manual transmission shift to drive the car back homeSearched the google, this part could be the culprit. Once the part got replaced (easy installation), the above mentioned symptoms were goneI disassembled the part and found it was design issue which means if you have the same age of the car, go ahead to have it replaced befroe the issue shows up...

I need an answer. I received the switch today, opened it, and the part that came out had an OE manufacturer and part number on it. Is that what Beck Arnley is doing, re-boxing other companies parts under their own brand? Or did someone "return" the part, after swapping out their defective switch?Update: 05/03/2019 I received a new replacement switch, in a sealed plastic bag in the box. The switch inside was completely different looking than the first one they sent, confirming my belief that the first was truly a returned used part. Swapped it out and tested it, and it appears to work as designed. I'm a happy customer, except for sellers lack of attention. Amazon took care of me, no questions asked (it helps to spend loads of money with them annually) and sent the replacement before receiving the return, at no additional cost. Thank you, Amazon!

Fits and works perfectly for 2004 Audi A4 Cabriolet. Note, on said car, you must remove the drive side "storage" panel. There are three bolts (at least on the cabriolet), two underneath, and one by fuse box on left side. Three tabs hold the top of the panel to the dish. These tabs are disengaged by pulling the panel forward, like a drawer. Do not bend the panel downward nor pull down on the panel to disengage the tabs, as that would cause them to break. The face plate for the display panel (i.e., gauges) can also be easily removed by pulling the bottom forward, which will allow you to see how the panel attaches at the top before attempting to removing it. Overall, pretty simple repair as long as you don't break the tabs holding the panel.

I was having issues were at the top of my display within my instrument cluster I was getting a "Brake Light" message. This seemed to be the cure. It would still come on once in a blue moon, however for the most part my display went back to showing my radio station. However after 4 months, the brake light message is back strong as ever. Not sure if it's due to this part, but it could be as I went for the cheap fix instead of OEM.

I started having multiple issues with my Q7 starting with a dead battery caused by the brake lights not going off. I had to pull the fuse to prevent the battery from dying. Here is a list of all the symptoms my car was having: cruise control would not work, EPC light on dash, Push button start would not work, the key could not be removed from the ignition, shifting was erratic and eventually I was forced to use triptronic only.I thought I was having some serious issues with the car and could not believe that it was all caused by a bad brake sensor! I replaced this and all the above problems went away immediately. It took about 15 minutes to swap the part. The only tool you need is a t-20 torx screwdriver to remove the panel above the pedals. From there twist the existing sensor counterclockwise to remove and unplug the harness attached. Plug in the new sensor and twist it into place and you are done. The part looks a little different than the factory one but fits perfectly and works like a charm.
