The toy was just not that exciting for a higher intellectual child.

I am of a certain age & time when toys didn't have gigantic eyes but these days, dolls & animals seem to have massive eyes, so this unicorn's eyes just make it look a little scary to me. What matters are the kids, and they love it and it's not scary to them at all. I had to do a return/reship per the first one seemed to have an electrical short or something per I had it plugged in for hours and it wouldn't charge (I wasn't aware of it until my husband pointed out that it was making 'low battery' sounds, and it wasn't actually charging - after he read the directions). I swapped out the cord & the outlet a couple times and it eventually started to charge but I didn't want to risk a faulty toy, so I requested a new one. The new one arrived with funky hair/mane and a completely dead battery (just like the first one) but it charges with no problems. It does take a while to charge and there doesn't seem to be any way of knowing when it's done charging or its energy level (no indicator lights or gauge that I've found).Once it was charged, it's fairly easy to use and it does a ton of different movements. I like that the sound is optional and pretty easy to turn on/off. The instructions are ok - not great but easy enough to understand. It's a pain that it doesn't include batteries for the remote and doesn't include a tiny screwdriver to be able to remove the battery door to put batteries in so hopefully you have a glasses repair kit or something as there really isn't any way make it work without the remote. The remote has a good number of buttons and they are pretty easy to figure out. I'm a little confused as why there are individual 'dance' moves it does that are not on the remote and only when it 'dances' but again, that's probably just me. I highly recommend putting it on the ground and giving it a ton of space before pressing the dance button per it really gets around and is a little crazy & fast but really fun to watch. All in all, the kids love it, it's fun and although it's of course not really high quality, it has some good features and works well so far. Make sure to test it out before the return window closes just in case there's a quality control issue. Otherwise, I recommend.

Bought for a six-year-old who absolutely loves it. She figured out how to make it twirl, dance and rear-up in no time. It moves well on hardwood floors, charges quickly and makes sounds that delight her. She said it is the best present ever!
