We paddle quite a bit, and I've been using wooden bent shaft paddles for years. But, I haven't updated any of my paddles in years, just keep using them, and when they get beat up, I sand them and revarnish them. And actually, that works very well with this kind of paddle. BUT, some of my paddles are about 30 years old, and at some point, it's kind of hard to make them look and work as good as they once did. Me? I'm kind of cheap. But my son said "Dad, I'm, getting you a new paddle for Christmas". And this is what he got me.What I like:Prettiest paddle I own. Really nice looking.Well made, nicely balanced, good finish, rockguard (or something like it) all around the blade. What I don't like: Really nothing. You can certainly nitpick about paddles if you want...the blade shape is wrong, or should be bigger or smaller...it could always be lighter...etc. But honestly, it's really a genuinely nice looking and nicely made paddle. I expect to get many years of good use out of it!!
