I bolted this on to my Street Glide as soon as it arrived and it was a super-easy installation. It has a wide range of adjustment due to slotted mounting points, but once it's tightened down it's rock solid. Uses existing hardware at upper frame rail or the included hardware is fine too. I like that it has the spring to flip it forward and hold it down for easy passenger mount-up. I will be leaving this on because it's comfortable with a just-right density backrest pad.Stem gives passenger a place to hold without cutting fingers, or she can old onto me because pad isn't too thick for closeness. Very strong and durable frame and likewise the vinyl of the pad is very strong with good stitching. Seems like a great value to me and I'm happy with it - I will be using it permanently on this bike.

I ride two up most of the time, on a 2015 Street Glide with a tour pack. My wife said she still has plenty of room behind the backrest. I have only gone on 2 long rides so far with it, and I think I still need to tweak placement a little, but do feel it provides some comfort. Even though it is pretty easy to take on/off, the backrest folds down while attached, to make it easier to get onto the bike. The metal used for the base, the brackets and the bar that holds the seat is very heavy duty. The rest itself looks like most after market backrests. The pocket on the back of the backrest is large enough to hold cell phone. I like there is a knob to adjustment height and a screw to somewhat adjust how far back the rest will go. The instructions do not really match the mounting for my year. There is no padding between the pocket and the adjustment knob. While a cell phone will fit in the pocket, you want to make sure it is not screen forward, or you risk to much pressure on the screen and breaking it. I added a little bit of foam behind the knob to help protect anything in the pocket. I would purchase again if needed. I took one star off for the mounting and pocket padding.

The brackets seem really well made. Much better design than the ones from HD. The padding and cover might be a little "plastic-ish" but for 1/4 the price of the HD one, I'm good with that. This part was easy to install with a few basic hand tools. It complements most any seat design and will keep me in the seat for longer rides. Does a great job of keeping my back from hurting too. Great part for the price!

It has a very factory look and provides just the right amount of back support. I haven't tried riding with my wife yet to see if it needs to be removed but so far so good. It does spring forward to allow a passenger to get seated. I gave it 4 stars because if kind of has a clanky feel to it. It can wiggle around and the pin that adjusts the height is fairly loose in design. Also the kit comes with two style brackets. I had to use the newer model bracket instead of the 2008 version the instructions called for. I also needed to mount it upside down from the instructions. The holes are not where indicated. No big deal since the mount and the seat arm are very solid. It's just the padded back that moves around.

My husband has a 13 Street Glide and he changes bikes about every 2 years as he puts many, many miles on them. He had a backrest that he would use when riding solo and sometimes he would put padding on it as it wasn't very comfortable. He likes this one! He really likes that it leans back but doesn't give. He said it was easy to install. He feels like it is pretty sturdy and will last the rest of the time he has this bike. He was surprised at the price and happy because he had been looking at some more expensive ones and they didn't tilt. It's a very basic look, nothing flashy, so it can go on many different bikes. Overall, very happy with this so far!

Many years ago I installed a knockoff backrest on my 2011 Road Glide - it wasn't much to look at but it was VERY comfortable. This one looks nicer but is not, at least with limited riding, as comfortable. Perhaps with some riding/adjustment and more riding I will be able to find a sweet spot. As far as the install, I found it surprisingly difficult. Mind you, as I said earlier, I had already installed a cheaper setup a few years ago and it was much easier. Due to the year of the bike - instructions said to use the smaller of the two brackets to set the main housing but it really did not fit as described. It required a hole in the frame that was not there. I wound up flipping it upside down and grinding it down a bit and I was able to get it to fit another way - kind of backwards and upside down. Once the base was installed, everything else went together pretty easy. The unit itself seems to be very well built and seems very sturdy. The metal used for the base, the brackets and the bar that holds the seat is very heavy duty. The comfort level being less that what I had with a cheaper version of a backrest and the modifications needed to complete the install leave this item with a still solid 4 stars.

These are real nice if you're taking a long trip. It doesn't work that great if you got a passenger but I usually don't. The price is less than other comparable backrests. The pad is a good balance of soft and support. I would recommend.
