This is my only experience with an arbor press. My specific use is for pressing frets into guitar necks but will likely use it for other things. The press from a certain popular guitar maker is almost twice as much money when shipping is added and is only 1/2 ton so I wanted to try this press.Some notable points:Mine came with a VEVOR sticker on it, so it may have been from a different maker than others listed here.PROS- The base was stable, there was no wobble or play to speak of.- The overall "sturdy factor" seems decent.CONS- It arrived in a badly battered box but nothing was missing from inside. This certainly made me think the worst and maybe refuse shipping...- It was VERY, VERY dirty, the expected grease yes, but it was caked in dirt. I had to do a full tear down, clean it and reassemble (annoying but not hard at all).- The base casting is SUPER sloppy and makes me want to return it but this seems common among many presses and mine is not so bad it interferes with the ram.- The ram has a very weak magnet in it. It will hold the included press accessories to be fair but nothing bigger or heavier. It certainly does not hold my fret caul with brass insert. More on that below.- The included 8.8 bolt for the ram did not hold anything for me. It wasn't stripped but it would not hold anything for some reason. I had to find my own bolt, oddly enough I had one on hand and that one did work quite well with no modification to the ram.- The hand wheel is rough as can be, feels like 80 grit sandpaper or very rough pourous ceramic. The pictures here made it look polished. Mine is far from polished, or even semi-smooth.- The black coating on the main moving parts and handle mount is worn down/ damaged in some spots.I think it will do the job but it may disappoint people with high expectations. I know some will say what do you expect for $100. While I don't expect perfection I guess I expect a bit more fit and finish than what I got.

Very happy about spending a little extra money on this one. I have a couple from harbor freight but they don’t compare to this one!

This tool is very sturdy & quality made. But .. evidently the tool I am looking for to cut 1/2" holes into bottle caps does not existence and I cannot find a cutting die that will fit the standard sized hole in this press. I was hoping this would solve my problem but unfortunately not. Totally not the manufacturer's fault. Thank you seller for all your help.

You get what you pay for. It functions and does it's basic job. The handwheel is absolutely useless and just gets in the way. The pin that holds the wheel busted today (after about 300 total presses - none using the wheel). Doesn't ratchet, handle isn't long enough to get good torque. The gear is a bit sloppy. Overall it's a cheap press that will not last the years.

I have been looking at half ton arbor presses from different companies. My first choice was to go with the Harbor Freight arbor press but they were never stocked or available in my location. Looking at Amazon, I saw this one ton arbor press for less then what the half ton was being advertised for by the same manufacturer. When it arrived I noticed a hole worn through the box as seen in the photo. The UPS driver allowed me to open it in front of him to just validate nothing was damaged. I assembled the wheel and handle, inserted the knob for the draw handle, adjusted the tension for my preference and it is good to go. It does not ratchet as mentioned in the description. It did come with three setting arbors; one flat, one pointed and one round (dimple). From what I see it will work perfectly for installing frets on fretboards and around the house projects. I gave an overall three rating do to poor packaging and there are some minor flaws in the casting.

I use it for leather craft. The drilled hole in the shaft will fit most of my punches and tools. Secure it to a bench and get a section of pipe for extra leverage. Better than Harbor Freight

I’m very new with this type of machine, I’m not even sure what a ratchet means lol. So, with the bad reviews saying there was no ratchet, I wasn’t sure what to look for?? .. but regardless this worked perfect for what I needed.It did came with a busted cap that’s on the screw where you use it to hold the lever in place, but that was it. Was very easy to figure out. Happy to snatch it while I could before it was sold out! :)Perfect for my sewing/crating hobby !

Arrived clearly used and broken, even had a sticky note on it saying “sioc failed”. Covered in dirt and rust. Super annoying as a customer as I now have to take up my time to return this item.

While I understand this is a tool and designed to be functional all the paint looks like it was slapped on with a bucket - it is uneven has bubbles in places and flakes off - disappointing to buy something brand new and know you will have to strip and repaint it
