A buckle can be added to buckle the driving reins together at the driver's end. Reins are made from beta or biothane. Beta is a synthetic leather. It has the look and feel of leather, but is stronger and easier to care for. All you need to do is wipe it down with a little soap and water. You can also submerse it in bucket of water or spray it off with a hose. Beta lines are black. Great for show or general driving.

Dangerous material. Stick with paying a bit more for leather. These are a rubbery synthetic material so they STICK. One got caught around my arm and with mild tension on it, tightened/stuck to my skin (being sweaty working horses made it worse) and caused a burning bruise. If someone got caught up in these with a young horse and the horse spooked, the material would lock onto your arm or ankle and could cause a disaster. Also could be very destructive to a horses legs if something went wrong.

Arrived as is, I drive my horse with them. Look like leather but lack the 'POP' when you want to crack him on the rear to get his attention. Otherwise, they do the job.
