First impressions are that it seems to be well built. I am re learning the sax after 50 hrs . I rented a alto sax a few months earlier to get started. This sax plays much better. Low notes are easier to hit. My only complaint is the ligature is to small. The better sax reed bearly fit. Vandoren reeds not at all. Shipping was fast and arrived in good shape.

I was motivated by watching Jay Metcalf's videos and wanting to try something new I decided to buy a saxophone. I ordered one from another company and it got lost in shipping. I'm so glad it did and I decided to spend the extra money and ordered this one instead. I have no idea what I'm doing but this instrument is absolutely beautiful. I was floored when I followed Jay's instructions and got a beautiful sounding note on my first attempt. The case is gorgeous also! I'm excited to start this journey.....watch out Lisa Simpson here I come!

Such a great saxophone for the money. I'm really happy with it! Way better than some of the no name/ cheap brands out there!

This saxophone exceeds my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that it played perfectly from top to bottom right out of the box.The intonation is excellent. It also comes with a high quality mouthpiece. I plan on using this horn for my gigs. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this saxophone to students or professionals. It’s a great bang for your buck.

As designed by Mr. Metcalf - of Bettersax - the alto plays beautifully. He vouched for it and demonstrates it on You-tube. I am an older person taking up saxophone (and I also purchased the Bettersax tenor) and when I saw/heard the demonstration of the horn - I knew that it was time to try it. I am very happy with the instrument - it looks as good as it plays and I am happy to own it. Bundy manufactures it and it went through a 40 point quality check at Sweetwater Music. Overall, short of going to an instrument dealer - I felt better that the horn was vouched for by a professional who teaches and is an expert in saxophone mechanics (Mr. Metcalf). My trust was well placed and I have confidence in the instrument - now I have to go practice.... I will enjoy this, thank you Bettersax team and especially Mr. Metcalf.

I have an aristocrat saxophone. Old and seen better days. It had a funky C note that I just couldn't get around to playing with. So I bought the Jean Paul sax per Jay's review. Ok for the price. When the better sax became available, I bought it. But I found out during extensive practicing that the key is interfering with playing. The D# key (see the pictures) I don't know if it is just mine or they are all like this. Beware if you have big hands. The Price is good. The look is good and the tone is good. I just can't practice too long without it hurting my finger.

I am totally impressed with this sax on every level. The build quality is much more than I would anticipate from a Made in China horn. (If you have a country of origin pre conceived notion, you may want to reconsider). It is beautiful to behold and the additional adjustments in key places can save trips to the tech for adjustment. And the underslung octave key is a really nice touch, adding sophistication to the overall look.I put the sax through in intonation test with my electronic tuner and was shocked at how accurate the intonation is. I have played instruments that cost much more then this where the tuning was nowhere near as close.I had two really great rehearsals and finally got to use it on a gig and I have no reservations describing this as a pro level horn. Frankly, advertising it as a beginner sax is, in my humble opinion, a misnomer. The greatest compliment I can give it is that I can totally forget about it while playing and concentrate on my music. It is easy blowing and the tone is outstanding. I love the way it resonates while playing. It is the best bang for my buck of any sax I have ever owned.I hope I get to try out a Better Sax tenor one day. It may be hard to talk me out of my 1928 Conn but who knows...?

Very well packaged. The case is very good quality. Love the finish and overall condition of sax is excellent. New to alto sax but all component/parts function properly. I'm use to playing a straight soprano so ergonomics are a bit strange initially. To be expected. The missing star in my rating is because of the mouthpiece and ligature. No markings on the mouthpiece so not clue to what it is. Both mouthpiece and ligature have a cheap feel to them. I think my soprano mouthpiece weighs more than this alto. It plays, but see an upgraded mouthpiece in my future. My last issue is the retaining strap on the case that limits how far you open the case. It will only open 90 degrees. When you remove the sax body the case flops over spilling out the contents. Glad I removed the neck from the case first. The body and neck are very good and I'm sure with some time and practice we will become good friends. Excellent instrument at a great price for sure.
