The board I received is not what is pictured, although it is similar. This board still has 12 mosfets but they are arranged differently, with 6 on the front and another 6 on the back. The brass looking busses do not extend off of the board, as shown in the listing, which was the reason I chose this board over the others. Theses shorter busses seem to be functional and are not the main source of heat during operation. The cables and pencils get much hotter.This board spot welds very well. It pulses 3 times per spot weld and you can adjust these segments ("Seg" in setup) to individually change the heat and time between pulses. It seems to be very effective to make a nice spot weld. I practiced with the nickel strip that came with it and some old utility knife blades and it worked great using the following settings: Seg 1, gear 20, delay 500; Seg 2 and Seg 3 gear 20, delay 100. You can see that the heat goes through the knife blade to show it is welded securely. Peeling off the nickel strip ripped out the strip at the welds, as it should.I found that pressing somewhat firmly welds better and doesn't allow arcing. Arcing will just burn a hole in the nickel strip. With a firm touch of the electrodes, electrical current goes through the parts and welds them together. The pencils and cables get hot pretty quick, so this needs cooling about every 12 welds. Not a production machine but it does hobby spot welding very well. Time to re-cell some tool batteries...
