Used this to install new cups and bearings in my Gt avalanche mountain bike. Worked well, seems well made at least good enough for a back yard mechanic that's going to do 2 a year if they are Lucky? (Or would that be unlucky?)

I was pleasantly surprised by how well this worked to install my new Wolftooth headset. I was skeptical but it worked flawlessly. I do not know how this would hold up for daily use in a shop, but for the DIY person rarely swapping frames or headsets this is perfect.

I think for modern road bike headsets, the rod is a fraction short. But it would be not too difficult to buy a longer piece of M12 rod to extend the length. However, for bottom brackets it will be OK.Solid piece of kit, and will get use out of it.

Disagree with one star review, when used correctly this tool worked well. I replaced head stem bearing cups on two mountain bikes in minutes with no issues. Easy to use and effective.

The 11.25" length in the picture was actually 10.25 on the unit I received. This left an effective working length (with the head and lower nut backed out farther on the threads than I would like) of close to 7". I had to rig different end plates with large washers, making centering of the bearing cups difficult. Better for road bikes that mountain bikes with taller head spacing. That said, it is a well built piece with a wide variety of fitments for bearings and cups and with some difficulty it got the job done. I kept it in case I need it for my other bike, where it will work fine.
