Yep! I'm totally into this cheese press model. Somewhat old fashioned to me but that's what I trust to get the job done. Easy to setup and use, but it does take up a lot of space. I found it someone ok to clean afterwards too. I got larger cheesecloth to use with this which really helped cleanup and removing excess liquid. I think the wood is pretty good quality and should last a while.

It’s well constructed and seems efficient. However…There are no care instructions for the item. Do I wax it once a year, cover the drain pan with foil, exactly what? There are no weights with it. Some have bags with hooks that you fill to specific lines to get a desired weight. This one has nothing. I had to search the internet for the formula to figure out how to get to the weight I needed. You will need to find your own S-hooks to hang weights.

I recently went to a Homesteader's conference and after two cheesemaking sessions I was hooked! To make hard cheese I needed a cheese press and loved the look of this, knowing it would be on display in my dining room rather than hidden in a closet.Assembly was just okay. There are several pictures and numbers referring to part numbers. It took a minute to figure out but it was easy to follow once the pieces were sorted. I used the provided "screw key" but only to start the screws. In the end I needed to use something with a longer "lever" to completely set the screws.A bowl, a strainer, cheese cloth, two round plastic things and what looks like a paddle are also included. Relatively new to making cheese, I went back to the product page to see what went where. There is an excellent video that addressed all of my questions as well as how to add weight to the press. If you make cheese or know someone who does, this is a great cheese press. It's well made and has a lovely finish. It reminds me of something I might find at an Amish Market or Mennonite Market.

Very robust kit here. Enough so that for those of us new to cheese making it really provides a strong start and flexibility. While larger than my current needs, the included molds fit my goals, and allow me a lot more flexibility with this one purchase. Everything works fine, is very solidly constructed. It doesn't come with a metal can shown as a weight (and I can't find one to buy either... which I mostly want for the look). Other accessories like weight and larger molds are easy additions. My 11 year old son is oddly enough really interested in cheese making and this is becoming a great learning experience for both of us, as we focus on the science and art right away rather than just the tools.

I love the aesthetic of this gadget and how easy it makes the cheese making process. I appreciate the simplicity of using it, whereas other products are way too complex to understand. This did the job in no time. I'm fairly impressed.

I had so much fun with this cheese making kit. This is my first time making cheese and let me tell you once you start making your own cheese it will be hard to go back to buying store brands. I just made a simple recipe for farm cheese, and it surprised me how tasty it was and tasted like Ricotta cheese. It was a simple recipe of whole milk, apple vinegar and salt. I only had a little milk left from half a gallon of milk. So, I didn’t use the press for such a small amount of cheese to make a block of cheese. But I did find this kit extremely useful for draining out all the whey from the pan. I just poured it slowly into the larger basket and the drainer effectively drained all the whey out of the pan. Since this was my first time making cheese, I don’t think I let the milk cook long enough to make more cheese, or maybe I just didn’t have enough vinegar in it, so I had a lot of whey left and little cheese. But this kit was able to save all the cheese from the pot without losing any of the cheese. Next time I will try it with a gallon of milk to make a block of cheese with this pressure. I don’t know of any way to get virgin milk so I will still be making my cheese with whole milk. The wooden cheese press is strong, and the wood is thick, and I certainly will use it to make hard cheese when I try to make Cheddar or Gouda cheese. The kit is easy to put together and the baskets are solid and made from durable plastic. The draining wood tray is made from thick wood that is well coated, so I don’t have to worry about bacteria getting into the wood, but I did cover the tray with plastic anyway. As far as the pressure for cheese molding, it has two pressing levels with one that can be adjusted at different height and the other level can be adjusted for pressing down with weights at different levels.

Now this right here is a homesteader’s dream. The BIG Dutch Wooden Cheese Press has some real muscle to it with pressure up to 400 pounds, but it’s also mighty gentle on your hands. The wood is smooth and solid with a farmhouse charm that makes it feel more like a piece of heirloom kitchen gear than just a tool.It comes with two molds in handy sizes (1.3 and 2 quarts), plus cheesecloths so you can get started without running out to the store. The lever mechanism is easy to use, even with a bit of arthritis in the wrists, and cleanup wasn’t a chore either. We made a batch of herbed farmer’s cheese and it held shape like a dream and tasted amazing! I could practically hear my Granny clapping from the porch.Special Note: We only review products we’ve actually used and found helpful. For folks looking to dive into homemade goodness without wrestling industrial equipment, this one’s a fine and functional piece that adds charm and pride to your kitchen craft.
