This is not a shop tool. It seems fine for occasional home use. I haven't used it yet, but I see no reason why it won't work properly. It isn't of the same quality as shop tool, but it's ok for what it is. If you're a team mechanic or work in a bike shop, buy a better tool.

I literally did not know that this tool existed for this job. I have been bungling through in the past by using a tire lever as is often suggested to spread caliper pistons or brake pads apart when doing maintenance on my disc brakes. The lever is never the right thickness to go where you want it. This tool accomplishes the job perfectly. It's made of stainless steel, and it's machined well, with a nice finish. The blue plastic covering for the handle is just thin, but it doesn't really need much to be functional. I don't doubt that this tool should be durable and will last well.

This is a great tool to have in your shop if you service your own bicycle.This is a spreader for bicycle disc brake pads, and it's a brilliant design. It allows you to wedge the tool between two disc pads when they're closed, separating them to allow for installation of a disc rotor. They can also be used in place of the actual rotor when working on spacing the pads. Brilliant!Very well made, these are shaped like a small section of rotor, and feature a knife edge (not sharpened) which allows the tools to get between the two pads, when closed.Great quality, and at a super price. Your tool box needs one of these.
