You may think you'll never run out of these things, and you'd probably be right. Just for my bikes, I maybe go through about 10 a year. They are nice to have, and I even pack some in my bike bag. I have had caps fall off during a ride, or when they get tangled by mistake. in the derailleurs. I've found that you can take two decent rocks along the side of the road and mash them to do a temporary crimp on these soft-metal caps.I know not everyone can be their own bike mechanic, but this really is one spare part that everyone should have--replacing your own caps can prevent a costly trip to the bike shop for a new cable (unprotected ones fray quickly). No special tools needed, just some small pliers!

These are high quality crimp on ends for bicycle cables. I tried them on both brake and shift cables and they fit equally well on both. They are made from aluminum and produce a nice clean crimp.
