The old noodles on my hybrid were completely rusted, so I decided to replace them and purchased these. They installed quickly, although you'll obviously have to set the brakes up again since you have to take the cable completely loose from the brake. One I got them installed though, the bike looked significantly better. The new noodles took some of the old look away from the bike. Very glad I made this purchase.

I’ve had my bike over 20 years! Thought it was time to replace all the cables, and associated hardware, etc.Came across these things mostly by accident looking for everything needed. These brake cable guides are perfect replacements for the old ones, pop right in and fit perfectly. The old guides were scratched all up, and there is an internal plastic part that allows the cable to move freely that was old and no good anymore. The new guides have an internal plastic part, and the rubber boot too.Don’t neglect your bike, 20 years is too long, and these could’ve been replaced eons ago.I’m glad I found these!

The pics compare 3 noodles: 1. ASIR on left. 2. Original (rusted, torn nylon liner). 3. Shimano brake kit part, with rough edge poor quality flange on liner (explained in review).Quality: A great quality replacement party. I obtained this ASIR brand V brake noodle during a bike overhaul, before realizing I would end up needing whole new rear brakes, plus a full Shimano brake cable set, which included a replacement brake noodle (but not the black dust sleeve). I was surprised to see higher quality in the ASIR brand, which was a new name to me, vs the Shimano, where I expect quality, as seen in the flange end of the inner nylon liner. This liner flange in the Shimano was all rough & unrefined, while the ASIR has a nice finish, showing attention to detail & quality.Small but important part: This tiny part can be a reason your brakes will not adjust properly, if the liner loses shape & catches on the cable. This can be tested by releasing the brake cable from its retaining bolt, to check how well the cable slides through it. (I use teflon aka PTFE dry lube on the cable as well, which adds lube, but without any chance to ‘gunk’ up the inner channels for the cable, especially as I ride in cold weather, when other lubes will thicken).ASIR compares well to name brand: this noodle/ dust cover ASIR part has the same angle/ shape & dimensions as the original on the Schwinn bike & is a fine replacement part
