I put this on a 2001 Mercedes SLK 230 with about 80,000 miles on it. Installation took about 10 minutes, and it made the car much more stable on the highway. You can easily test your existing damper. Simply remove one end, then push it in and out. It should resist your and, and do so smoothly over the entire travel. If there are varying resistances, leaks, or no resistance to pushing and pulling, replace it.
