This thing has some weight to it, but I honestly feel like that's a good quality. If it was too lightweight, I'm not sure that I would trust it (silly as that might be). This comes with a rechargeable battery already inside the flashlight (with little plastic dots on the end to keep the battery safe during travels, so take those out before you use it), but it also comes with a cartridge into which you can put regular batteries, should you prefer to use it that way. I'll probably just use the rechargeable one it comes with, but I like that there's the other option available. Also, I love that this flashlight can double as a battery pack! That's another feature that I probably won't use very often, but I think it's a great thing to have for emergencies! This flashlight has two settings, high and low. When you first turn on the flashlight, the first press of the Power button turns it on High, then if you press it once more, it'll go down to Low. But it has to be in rather quick succession, because if you wait too long after the first press, then the second press will just turn off the flashlight completely.I got this mainly for use with experimenting with luminol, but it's awesome how versatile it is! I'd recently gotten a two-pack of UV penlights, and I gave one of them to my kid because he had an invisible ink marker that it worked with, so he was thrilled.I'm excited to check out cool bugs with this soon, too!So far I haven't used it for long periods of time yet, but I can feel the warmth coming from it if I hold my hand in front of the light, so just be careful there (I think that's normal, though). Also, don't shine it in the eyes of people or animals.Overall, I feel like this is a great UV flashlight, and I can now stop the search because I think I've found my perfect one.

I'm an artist in the SW of the United States and I use black lights for a number of my endeavors: for curing Resin, curing Gel nails, evaluating stones for lapidary work (numerous gemstones or semi-precious stones & rocks fluoresce providing clues as to their makeup - did you know even some diamonds fluoresce?), and, for a SW USA focus, checking for backyard scorpions. (Ya don't wanna find them, but when ya do, you'll see them easily as they also fluoresce!) Also good for travelers to detect cleanliness in hotel rooms - but be forewarned - you might not want to know! Many handheld black light flashlights are chintzy and use up their batteries faster than you would like, and when you reach for them you have the hassle of always replacing batteries. What seemed like a "good-deal" purchase ends up being more expensive than you figured due to the need of constant battery replacement... As compared to this blue light flashlight... it's a nicely weighted handheld flashlight that also allows you to recharge via USB C - meaning at home, in the car, or on the go. AND SURPRISE, it can also act as a power pack, allowing you to charge other items from its power reserves. Added bonus are the varying strengths of blacklight modes - allowing for greater distance of viewability as well as florescence detection in varying degree of ambient light. Great features, multi-purpose, rechargeable - 5 stars form me.

I made the mistake of ordering this to see how good of a job I was doing at cleaning carpets after my dog was unwell. Fair warning. What I thought were just a few locations turned out to be many more than I expected. Floors I thought were clean - were not. Walls I had no idea my dog was using - now its time to deep clean and paint. Fair warning, you might be grossed out by what you will find, but it will also make you clean your carpets and walls, so reserve a weekend and a carpet cleaning machine.

When you get this you are going to want to try it out and check your bathroom. Kind of gross. But before you do, read the instructions first and remove the plastic disc between the battery and housing. I would also recommend fully charging the unit first. The instructions state to, "Never run out of the battery power, or battery will be scraped (sic) due to the over discharge.". The instructions have several English spelling or grammar errors and I always wonder if their pamphlet is indicative of their quality control. The flash light is solid and seems well built. Just because something glows does not mean it is urine in the bathroom. Even dried soap on a container glows as well the area around a litter pan. It has the potential to be a power bank and charge other devices, however the battery is only 3.7 volt and most devices requires 5 volt. OK in a pinch I guess. As an extra feature it did come with a battery adapter that you can use 3 AAA batteries to power it. The instructions does not mention it, but as a WARNING if you have AAA Alkaline batteries in it DO NOT PLUG IT INTO A CHARGER. This warning should be referenced somewhere. Bottom line it is sturdy and works but inadequate documentation. Their Amazon post shows a picture shining on a sleeping kitten. Their pamphlet also states the flashlight is extremely high power, so never shoot at eyes or the eyes might be hurt. I would not recommend pointing at anything that has eyes.
